Qur’an 3:105 (M. H. Shakir)
And be not like those who became divided and disagreed after clear arguments had come to them, and these it is that shall have a grievous chastisement.

99-1 (al-Ihtijaj:114): When Abu Bakr gave a sermon, Ubayy ibn Ka‘b stood up to him—it was Friday, the first day of the month of Ramadan—and said: “By Allah, you have not been neglected. A standard has been set up for you: he makes lawful for you what is lawful and makes unlawful for you what is unlawful. Had you obeyed him, you would not have differed, nor turned your backs on each other, nor fought, nor would some of you have disavowed others. By Allah, after him you will indeed break the covenant of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family), and you will differ concerning his Household. If this one is asked about what he does not know, he will give a verdict by his own opinion. Thus you have been cast far away and have lapsed into silence, and you have claimed that disagreement is a mercy—far from it! The Book refuses that for you. Allah—mighty is His Majesty—says: ‘And be not like those who became divided and disagreed after clear arguments had come to them, and these it is that shall have a grievous chastisement’ (Qur’an 3:105).
Then He informed us of your differing, saying: ‘And they shall continue to differ, Except those on whom your Lord has mercy; and for this did He create them’ (Qur’an 11:118-119)—that is, for mercy—and they are the Family of Muhammad (may Allah bless him and his family).
I heard the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) say: O ‘Ali, you and your Shi‘a are upon the primordial nature (fitrah), and mankind are alienated from it. Why did you not accept from your Prophet, when he informed you that you would turn back from his legatee, ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib—his trustee, his minister, his brother, and his guardian over all of you; the purest of you in heart, the earliest of you in submission, the most understanding among you of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family)? He gave him his legacy and entrusted him with his assurances; he appointed him as his successor over his community and deposited with him his secret. He is his guardian in preference to all of you, and the one most entitled to him above you all—master of the legatees and the legatee of the Seal of the Messengers, the best of the Godwary, and the most obedient of the community to the Lord of the worlds. You greeted him as Commander of the Faithful during the lifetime of the Chief of the Prophets and the Seal of the Messengers. Indeed, he who warns has given excuse, he who is admonished has delivered sincere counsel, and he whose blindness is removed has perceived. You have heard as we heard, seen as we saw, and witnessed as we witnessed.”

Qur’an 11:118-119 (M. H. Shakir)
And if your Lord had pleased He would certainly have made people a single nation, and they shall continue to differ. Except those on whom your Lord has mercy; and for this did He create them; and the word of your Lord is fulfilled: Certainly I will fill hell with the jinn and the men, all together.

Qur’an 3:138 (M. H. Shakir)
This is a clear statement for men, and a guidance and an admonition to those who guard (against evil).
99-1 (Manaqib Ibn Shahr Ashub): Allah, exalted is He, named ‘Ali (peace be upon him) with the same designation by which He named His Books. He said in the Qur’an: “This is a clear statement for mankind,” and for ‘Ali (peace be upon him): “Is he then who is upon a clear proof from his Lord” [1].

99-2 (Dala’il al-Imamah:105): Al-Hasan ibn Mu‘adh al-Ridawi narrated: Lut ibn Yahya al-Azdi reported from ‘Umara ibn Zayd al-Waqidi: Hisham ibn ‘Abd al-Malik ibn Marwan performed the Hajj one year, and in that same year Muhammad ibn ‘Ali al-Baqir and his son Ja‘far (peace be upon them) also performed the Hajj. Ja‘far ibn Muhammad (peace be upon them) said in the course of his words: Hisham said to him: “‘Ali used to claim knowledge of the unseen, whereas Allah has not disclosed His unseen to anyone. How did he claim that, and whence?” My father replied: “Allah sent down to His Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) a Book in which He clarified what has been and what will be until the Day of Resurrection, in His saying: ‘And We have revealed the Book to you explaining clearly everything’ [2], ‘and a guidance and an admonition to those who guard (against evil).’ And in His saying: ‘And We have encompassed everything in a clear Imam’ [3]; and in His saying: ‘We have not neglected anything in the Book’ [4]; and in His saying: ‘And there is nothing concealed in the heaven and the earth but it is in a clear book’ [5]. He revealed to His Prophet (peace be upon him) that he should not leave anything of His unseen, His secret, and the treasure of His knowledge except that he confide it to ‘Ali; and He commanded him that ‘Ali compile the Qur’an after him, and that ‘Ali undertake his washing, embalming, and shrouding to the exclusion of his people. He said to his family and companions: ‘It is forbidden for anyone other than my brother ‘Ali to look upon my private parts; he is of me and I am of him; he has what I have and upon him is what is upon me; he shall discharge my debt and fulfill my promise.’ And he said to his companions: ‘‘Ali will fight over the interpretation (ta’wil) of the Qur’an just as I fought over its revelation (tanzil).’ No one possessed the full and complete interpretation of the Qur’an except ‘Ali (peace be upon him). For that reason he said to his companions: ‘The best judge among you is ‘Ali.’ And ‘Umar ibn al-Khattab said, ‘Were it not for ‘Ali, ‘Umar would have perished.’ Shall ‘Umar bear witness for him, and others deny it?!”
Qur’an 16:89 (M. H. Shakir)
And We have revealed the Book to you explaining clearly everything, and a guidance and mercy and good news for those who submit.
Qur’an 36:12 (M. H. Shakir)
Surely We give life to the dead, and We write down what they have sent before and their footprints, and We have encompassed everything in a clear writing.
Qur’an 6:38 (M. H. Shakir)
And there is no animal in the earth nor a bird that flies with its two wings but (they are) communities like yourselves; We have not neglected anything in the Book, then to their Lord shall they be gathered.
Qur’an 27:75 (M. H. Shakir)
And there is nothing concealed in the heaven and the earth but it is in a clear book.

Qur’an 3:181-182 (M. H. Shakir)
