19. Healing of Cancer Patients through Intercession with the Master of Martyrs (Imam Husain (a.s.))
(1) From Khoy Weekly, dated 2/2/1377 (solar calendar), corresponding to 19 Muharram 1418 AH, on its fourth page under the title “Incurable Disease Healed on Ashura of Husain” wrote:
A 4-year-old girl, Shahrbanoo Ghanbarnejad, from the village of Valdian in Khoy County, fell ill on the 10th of Dey 1377 SH. She was taken for treatment to Urmia and placed under the care of Dr. Sarsarshahi. After being diagnosed with cancer, she was referred to Dr. Dariush Rouhi for surgery at Shahid Motahhari Hospital.
After the operation, she lost her memory and ability to speak. She was moved to another hospital, but this complication was declared incurable. She was then returned home, and the days of Muharram mourning arrived.
Her family sought prayers from the mourning groups and turned to the sacred threshold of the Master of Martyrs (Imam Husain(a.s.)). At 3 p.m. on the day of Ashura, she received the blessings of the Imam and was healed.
Several sheep were sacrificed in gratitude, and people of the city came to her home to receive blessings and share in the grace.

(2) The late Sheikh Hassan Basiri writes:
[1] ﺑﺼﯿﺮي، ﮐﺮاﻣﺎت و ﺣﮑﺎﯾﺎت ﭘﻨﺪآﻣﻮز،
[2] ﻫﻤﺎن، ص .54
I had a neighbor named Ali from the Abbas family, whose nine-year-old son Sajjad had developed blood cancer. They treated him for a full year, but his scalp hair completely fell out, and his weight dropped from 27 kilograms to 12 kilograms. He even lost the ability to speak. Doctors advised them to let him rest peacefully in his remaining days.
On Ashura, precisely eight days since the boy had last eaten, Sajjad’s grandfather, Agha Mashhadi Ali Akbar, took him in his arms and said:
“Today I will take him to a doctor upon whom all the doctors of the world depend.”
He brought him to a mourning procession and handed the boy to Agha Tabatabai, the head of the procession.
He took the boy and placed him on a horse accompanying the group, saying:
“All the doctors have given up on this child, so now he has sought refuge in this court.”
Then he interceded and handed the boy back to his grandfather. Within one hour, the child began to speak and said, “I am hungry.”
They gave him a plate of fried potatoes left over from the charity of Imam Husain(a.s.). He ate it all and was completely healed by the blessing of Imam Husain(a.s.). After that day, he needed no further medicine.
They took him to Tehran, where his doctor ordered tests, compared the results with his previous medical file, and said:
“This is nothing short of a miracle.”
He then stood up, kissed the boy’s forehead, and asked for prayers.
Basiri writes: Sajjad has been a devoted servant of Imam Husain’s shrine ever since.

(3) Khoy Weekly, dated Saturday 9/3/1377 SH, Issue 73, on page 8, wrote about the healing of a woman with cancer:
A lady named Zahra Taghizadeh had repeatedly gone for treatment to Ararat Hospital in Tehran and had been hospitalized there. After numerous examinations and tests, they diagnosed a malignant cancerous tumor in her breast.
After surgery, she was treated with chemotherapy, but there was no result, because another tumor had grown in her liver, causing her to become paralyzed from both legs.
During the days of Ashura, she turned to the Ahl al-Bayt (as) in supplication. On the night of the 16th of Muharram, she regained her health. Mourning groups of chest-beaters and chain-beaters came to visit her and held mourning ceremonies in gratitude.
