Al-Isra Ayah 84
[Qur'an Fatir 35:32 — M. H. Shakir] Then We gave the Book for an inheritance to those whom We chose from among Our servants; but of them is he who wrongs himself, and of them is he who takes a middle course, and of them is he who is foremost in deeds of goodness by Allah's permission; this is the great excellence.
99-/6534 _2- From Muhammad b. Abi Hamzah, who raised it to Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said: “Gabriel descended upon Muhammad (may Allah bless him and his family) with this verse: ‘And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers,’ and, ‘and it adds only to the perdition of the unjust’—namely, those who wrong the Family of Muhammad by denying them their right.”
[Qur'an Al-Isra 17:82 — M. H. Shakir] And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers, and it adds only to the perdition of the unjust.

99-/6535 _3- Muhammad b. al-‘Abbas said: Muhammad b. Khalid al-Barqi narrated to us, from Muhammad b. ‘Ali al-Sayrafi, from Ibn al-Fudayl, from Abu Hamzah, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said about the verse: “And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers,” that “it only increases in loss those who wrong the Family of Muhammad by denying them their right.”
99-/6536 _4- And from him: He said: Muhammad b. Hammam narrated to us, from Muhammad b. Isma‘il al-‘Alawi, from ‘Isa b. Dawud, from Abu al-Hasan Musa, from his father (peace be upon them), who said: “This verse was revealed: ‘And We reveal of the Quran that which is a healing and a mercy to the believers,’ and ‘it only increases in loss those who wrong the Family of Muhammad.’”
[Qur'an Al-Isra 17:84 — M. H. Shakir] Say: Everyone acts according to his manner; but your Lord best knows who is best guided in the path.
99-/6537 _5- Muhammad b. Ya‘qub: from ‘Ali b. Ibrahim, from his father, from al-Qasim b. Muhammad, from al-Minqarī, from Sufyan b. ‘Uyaynah, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “Intention is superior to the act. Indeed, intention is the act.” Then he recited the word of the Mighty and Majestic: “Say: Everyone acts according to his manner,” meaning: according to his intention.
99-/6538 _6- And from him: from ‘Ali b. Ibrahim, from his father, from al-Qasim b. Muhammad, from al-Minqarī, from Ahmad b. Yunus, from Abu Hashim, who said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: “The people of the Fire are consigned to eternity in the Fire because their intentions in the world were that, if they were to remain in it forever, they would disobey Allah forever. And the people of Paradise are consigned to eternity in Paradise because their intentions in the world were that, if they were to remain in it, they would obey Allah forever. So by intentions these are made eternal and those are made eternal.” Then he recited His saying, exalted is He: “Say: Everyone acts according to his manner,” and said: “That is, according to his intention.”
99-/6539 _7- ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said: My father narrated to me, from Ja‘far b. Ibrahim, from Abu al-Hasan al-Rida (peace be upon him), who said: “When it is the Day of Resurrection, the believer will be made to stand before Him, and he himself will undertake his own reckoning. His deeds will be presented to him in his record. The first thing he sees are his evil deeds, and his color will change because of that, his joints will tremble, and his soul will be alarmed. Then he will see his good deeds, and his eyes will be soothed, his soul delighted, and his spirit rejoices. Then he will look at what Allah has granted him of reward, and his joy will intensify. Then Allah will say to the angels: ‘Bring the scrolls that contain the deeds which they did not perform.’” He said: “They read them, then they say: ‘By Your might, You surely know that we did not do any of this.’ He says: ‘You have spoken the truth—you intended them, so We wrote them for you.’ Then they are rewarded for them.”
