English: I asked Abu Abdillah Ja‘far ibn Muhammad (peace be upon him) about the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: Whoever Allah guides, he is the rightly guided, and whom He causes to err, you shall not find for him a guiding guardian (Quran 18:17, M. H. Shakir). He said: Indeed Allah, Blessed and Exalted, will cause the wrongdoers on the Day of Resurrection to stray from His abode of honor, and He will guide the people of faith and righteous deeds to His Garden, as He, Mighty and Majestic, said: and Allah leaves the unjust to stray; and Allah does what He pleases (Quran 14:27, M. H. Shakir); and He, Mighty and Majestic, said: Surely (as for) those who believe and do good, their Lord will guide them by their faith; there shall flow from beneath them rivers in gardens of bliss (Quran 10:9, M. H. Shakir).

English: He said: “When Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said to Adam (peace be upon him): Enter the Garden, He said to him: O Adam, do not approach this tree—and He showed it to him. Adam (peace be upon him) said to his Lord: How can I approach it when You have forbidden it to me and my wife? He said to them both: Do not approach it, meaning: do not eat from it. Adam (peace be upon him) and his wife said: Yes, our Lord, we will not approach it and we will not eat from it. But they did not make an exception in their saying ‘Yes’; so Allah entrusted them in that matter to themselves and to their own remembering.” He said: “And Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said to His Prophet (blessings of Allah upon him and his family) in the Book: And do not say of anything: Surely I will do it tomorrow, Unless Allah pleases (Quran 18:23-24, M. H. Shakir), that is, unless Allah wills that I not do it, so Allah’s will that I not do it will precede, and I will not be able to do it. H. Shakir). He said: “That you make an exception; then if you remember afterwards, make the exception when you remember.”
English 99-/6652: From ‘Abdullah ibn Sulayman—from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: And remember your Lord when you forget (Quran 18:24, M. H. Shakir), he said: “It is the man who swears and forgets to say, ‘If Allah wills’; so let him say it when he remembers.”
English 99-/6653: From Abu Basir—from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: I asked him about the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: And do not say of anything: Surely I will do it tomorrow, Unless Allah pleases (Quran 18:23-24, M. H. Shakir). He said: “It concerns a man who swears about something and forgets to make an exception, saying, ‘I will surely do such-and-such tomorrow or the day after tomorrow’; thus His saying: And remember your Lord when you forget (Quran 18:24, M. H. Shakir).”
English 99-/6654: From Hamzah ibn Humran, who said: I asked him about the saying of Allah: And remember your Lord when you forget (Quran 18:24, M. H. Shakir). He said: “If you swore while forgetful, then remembered afterwards, make the exception when you remember.”
English 99-/6655: From al-Qaddah—from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad—from his father—from ‘Ali (peace be upon them), who said: “The exception in an oath is valid whenever one remembers, even if after forty mornings.” Then he recited this verse: And remember your Lord when you forget (Quran 18:24, M. H. Shakir).

English 99-/6656: Al-‘Ayyashi—from Jabir, who said: I heard Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) say: “By Allah, a man from us, the People of the House, will surely possess the earth after his death for three hundred years and will add nine.” I said: When will that be? He said: “After the death of the Qa’im.” I said: How long will the Qa’im remain in his world until he dies? He said: “Nineteen years from the day of his rise to the day of his death.” I said: Will there be turmoil after his death? He said: “Yes, for fifty years.” Then he said: “Then the Victorious (al-Muntaṣir) will come out into the world and will seek vengeance for his blood and the blood of his companions. He will kill and take captives until it is said: ‘If this man were from the progeny of the prophets, he would not have killed people to this extent.’ Then people, white and black, will gather against him and will be many against him until they drive him to the Sanctuary of Allah. When the affliction intensifies upon him, the Victorious will die, and the Blood-Shedder (al-Saffāḥ) will come out into the world in anger for the Victorious. He will kill every unjust enemy of ours and will rule the whole earth. Allah will set his affair aright for him, and he will live three hundred years and add nine.” Then Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: “O Jabir, do you know who the Victorious and the Blood-Shedder are? O Jabir, the Victorious is al-Husayn, and the Blood-Shedder is the Commander of the Faithful (blessings of Allah upon them both).”
