The Virtue of Sūrat al-Zalzalah
99-/11823 Muhammad ibn Ya‘qūb, from ʿAlī ibn Ibrāhīm, from his father, from ʿAlī ibn Maʿbad, from his father, from someone who mentioned it, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (ʿalayhis-salām): He said: “Do not grow weary of reciting ‘When the earth is shaken with her (final) earthquake’, for indeed, whoever recites it in his supererogatory (nafl) prayers, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will never afflict him with an earthquake, and he will neither die because of one, nor by thunderbolt, nor any calamity from the calamities of this world until he dies. When he dies, a noble angel descends upon him from his Lord and sits at his head, saying: ‘O Angel of Death, be gentle with the friend of Allah, for he used to frequently remember me and would often recite this sūrah.’ And the sūrah itself will say the same to him. Then the Angel of Death will say: ‘My Lord has commanded me to listen to him and obey him, and not to take out his soul until I am commanded to do so.’ Then, when I am commanded, I shall remove his soul. The Angel of Death remains by him until he is ordered to take his soul. And when the veil is lifted for him, and he sees his places in Paradise, his soul is taken in the gentlest manner possible. Then seventy thousand angels escort his soul to Paradise, racing to carry it to Paradise.”
99-/11824 Ibn Bābawayh, with his chain of narration, from ʿAlī ibn Maʿbad, from his father, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (ʿalayhis-salām): He said: “Do not grow weary of reciting ‘When the earth is shaken’, for whoever recites it in his supererogatory (nafl) prayers, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will never afflict him with an earthquake ever, and he will neither die by it, nor by a thunderbolt, nor by any calamity from among the calamities of this world. Then, when it is commanded that he be admitted to Paradise, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will say: ‘My servant, I have made My Paradise permissible for you. So dwell in it wherever you wish and desire—without denial and without rejection.’

And among the distinctive merits (khawāṣṣ) of the Qur’an:
It is narrated from the Prophet (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi) that he said: “Whoever recites this sūrah (i.e., Sūrat al-Zalzalah) is given the reward of one who has recited a fourth of the Qur’an. And whoever writes it on thin bread (khubz al-ruqāq) and feeds it to the one guilty of theft, the criminal will choke on it and be exposed.”
99-/11826 The Messenger of Allah (ṣallā Allāhu ʿalayhi wa ālihi) said: “Whoever writes it (Sūrat al-Zalzalah) on thin bread and feeds it to a thief, he will choke and be exposed immediately. And whoever recites it over a ring bearing the name of the thief, the ring will move.”

11827 Al-Ṣādiq (ʿalayhis-salām) said: “Whoever writes it (Sūrat al-Zalzalah) and hangs it upon himself, or recites it when entering upon a ruler he fears, will be protected from what he fears and dreads. And if it is written on a new, unused basin (ṭasht) and someone afflicted with facial paralysis (luqwah) looks into it, his pain will be removed by the permission of Allah, the Exalted, within three days or less.”
