Qur’an 3:93 (M. H. Shakir): All food was lawful to the children of Israel except what Israel forbade himself before the Torah was revealed; say: Bring the Torah and read it, if you are truthful.
99-/1794: Ali ibn Ibrahim said: Jacob used to suffer from sciatica, so he forbade camel meat to himself. The Jews said, “Camel meat is forbidden in the Torah.” So Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said to them: Say, Bring the Torah and read it, if you are truthful. It was only Israel who forbade this for himself; he did not forbid it for the people. This is a report about the Jews, and its phrasing is that of narration.
99-/1795: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub—from Muhammad ibn Yahya—from Ahmad ibn Muhammad or someone else—from Ibn Mahbub—from ‘Abd al-‘Aziz al-‘Abdi—from ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Ya‘fur—from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “When Israel ate camel meat, it would trigger pain in his flank, so he made camel meat forbidden for himself.
99-/1796: Al-‘Ayyashi—from ‘Abdullah ibn Abi Ya‘fur, who said: I asked Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) about Allah’s saying: All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel forbade himself. He said: “When Israel ate camel meat, it would trigger pain in his flank, so he made camel meat forbidden for himself; and that was before the Torah was revealed. When the Torah was sent down, he did not declare it forbidden, yet he did not eat it.”

He wrote back: All food was lawful to the Children of Israel except what Israel forbade himself.
