S 2 A 195

قوله تعالى:

وَ أَنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللّٰهِ وَ لاٰ تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ وَ أَحْسِنُوا إِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ[195]

Translation (Qur’an 2:195, M. H. Shakir):

And spend in the way of Allah and do not cast yourselves to perdition with your own hands, and do good (to others); surely Allah loves the doers of good.

99-/934 _1- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ: عَنْ عِدَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا، عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، وَ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ مَحْبُوبٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ اللَّحَّامِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)، قَالَ: «لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَنْفَقَ مَا فِي يَدَيْهِ فِي سَبِيلٍ مِنْ سُبُلِ اللَّهِ مَا كَانَ أَحْسَنَ وَ لاَ وُفِّقَ، أَ لَيْسَ يَقُولُ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: وَ لاٰ تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ وَ أَحْسِنُوا إِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ يَعْنِي الْمُقْتَصِدِينَ».

99-/934 _1- Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub—from several of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad and Sahl ibn Ziyad, from Ibn Mahbub, from Yunus ibn Ya‘qub, from Hammad the fishmonger, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “If a man were to spend all that is in his hands in one of the paths of Allah, it would not be good, nor would he be granted success. Does not Allah, the Exalted, say: ‘And do not cast yourselves to perdition with your own hands, and do good; surely Allah loves the doers of good’—meaning those who are moderate?”

99-/935 _2- الْعَيَّاشِيُّ: عَنْ حَمَّادٍ اللَّحَّامِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)، قَالَ: «لَوْ أَنَّ رَجُلاً أَنْفَقَ مَا فِي يَدَيْهِ فِي سَبِيلٍ مِنْ سُبُلِ اللَّهِ مَا كَانَ أَحْسَنَ وَ لاَ وُفِّقَ، أَ لَيْسَ اللَّهُ يَقُولُ: وَ لاٰ تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ وَ أَحْسِنُوا إِنَّ اللّٰهَ يُحِبُّ الْمُحْسِنِينَ يَعْنِي الْمُقْتَصِدِينَ».

99-/935 _2- Al-‘Ayyashi—from Hammad the fishmonger, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “If a man were to spend all that is in his hands in one of the paths of Allah, it would not be good, nor would he be granted success. Does not Allah say: ‘And do not cast yourselves to perdition with your own hands, and do good; surely Allah loves the doers of good’—meaning those who are moderate?”

99-/936 _3- عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَ: وَ لاٰ تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ قَالَ: هَذَا فِي النَّفَقَةِ [1].

99-/936 _3- From Hudhayfah, who said regarding “And do not cast yourselves to perdition with your own hands”: This is about expenditure. [1]

99-/937 _4- ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ(رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ)، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْقَطَّانُ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ [2] بْنُ مُصْعَبٍ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ ابْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ): «طَاعَةُ السُّلْطَانِ وَاجِبَةٌ، وَ مَنْ تَرَكَ طَاعَةَ السُّلْطَانِ فَقَدْ تَرَكَ طَاعَةَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ، وَ دَخَلَ فِي نَهْيِهِ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ يَقُولُ: وَ لاٰ تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ».

99-/937 _4- Ibn Babawayh said: Muhammad ibn ‘Ali ibn Bashshar (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to us, who said: ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim al-Qattan narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn ‘Abdillah al-Hadrami narrated to us, who said: Ahmad ibn Bakr narrated to us, who said: Muhammad [2] ibn Mus‘ab narrated to us, who said: Hammad ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Thabit, from Anas, who said: The Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) said: “Obedience to the ruler is obligatory; and whoever abandons obedience to the ruler has abandoned obedience to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and has entered into His prohibition. Indeed Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: ‘And do not cast yourselves to perdition with your own hands.’”

قوله تعالى:

وَ أَتِمُّوا الْحَجَّ وَ الْعُمْرَةَ لِلّٰهِ فَإِنْ أُحْصِرْتُمْ فَمَا اسْتَيْسَرَ مِنَ الْهَدْيِ وَ لاٰ تَحْلِقُوا رُؤُسَكُمْ حَتّٰى يَبْلُغَ الْهَدْيُ مَحِلَّهُ فَمَنْ كٰانَ مِنْكُمْ مَرِيضاً أَوْ

Translation (Qur’an 2:196, M. H. Shakir; partial as in source):

And accomplish the pilgrimage and the visit for Allah, but if you are confined, send whatever offering is easy to obtain, and do not shave your heads until the offering reaches its destination; but whoever among you is sick or has an ailment of the head...
