Al-Isra Ayah 26-28
99-/—: He said: “They are the oft-returning (to Allah), the devout worshippers.”
99-/6312 _6- From Abu Basir, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “O Abu Muhammad, adhere to piety, striving, fulfilling trusts, truthfulness in speech, good companionship with those who keep you company, and prolonged prostration—that is among the practices of the awwabun (the oft-returning).” Abu Basir said: “Al-Awwabun means the oft-repentant.”
99-/6313 _7- And from Hisham b. Salim, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “Whoever prays four rak‘ahs and recites in each rak‘ah fifty times ‘Say: He, Allah, is One (Qul huwa Allahu ahad),’ that is the prayer of Fatimah (peace be upon her), and it is the prayer of the awwabun.”
99-/6314 _8- From Muhammad b. Hafs b. ‘Umar, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “The prayer of the awwabun was fifty prayers, all of them with ‘Say: He, Allah, is One.’”

99-/6315 _9- Ibn Babawayh in (al-Faqih) said: Muhammad b. Mas‘ud al-‘Ayyashi (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated in his book from ‘Abdullah b. Muhammad, from Muhammad b. Isma‘il b. Sammak, from Ibn Abi ‘Umayr, from Hisham b. Salim, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “Whoever prays four rak‘ahs and recites in each rak‘ah fifty times ‘Say: He, Allah, is One,’ that is the prayer of Fatimah (peace be upon her), and it is the prayer of the awwabun.”
(Qur’an 17:26–28) M. H. Shakir: And give to the near of kin his due and to the needy and the wayfarer, and do not squander wastefully. Surely the squanderers are the fellows of the Shaitans and the Shaitan is ever ungrateful to his Lord. And if you turn away from them to seek the mercy from your Lord which you hope for, then speak to them a gentle word.

99-/6316 _1- Muhammad b. Ya‘qub: from ‘Ali b. Muhammad b. ‘Abdillah, from some of our companions—I think it was al-Sayyari—from ‘Ali b. Asbat, who said: When Abu al-Hasan (peace be upon him) came to al-Mahdi, he saw him restoring wrongfully taken properties, so he said: “O Commander of the Faithful, why is it that our wronged right is not restored?” He said to him: “And what is that, O Abu al-Hasan?” He said: “When Allah, Blessed and Exalted, granted His Prophet (Allah bless him and his family) victory over Fadak and what was allied to it, there was no mobilization of horses or camels against it; so Allah revealed to His Prophet (Allah bless him and his family): ‘And give to the near of kin his due.’ The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) did not know who they were, so he consulted Jibril (peace be upon him), and Jibril consulted his Lord, and Allah revealed to him: ‘Deliver Fadak to Fatimah.’ The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) summoned her and said to her: ‘O Fatimah, Allah has commanded me to deliver Fadak to you.’ She said: ‘I accept—from Allah and from you, O Messenger of Allah.’ Her agents continued in it during the life of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family). When Abu Bakr assumed authority, he removed her agents from it, so she came to him and asked him to restore it to her. He said to her: ‘Bring me a Black or a Red (i.e., any person) to testify to that for you.’ So she came with the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) and Umm Ayman, and they testified for her. He wrote for her an order to cease interference. She went out with the document, and ‘Umar met her and said: ‘What is this with you, O daughter of Muhammad?’ She said: ‘A document that the son of Abu Quhafa wrote for me.’ He said: ‘Show it to me.’ She refused, so he snatched it from her hand, looked at it, then spat on it, erased it, and tore it up, and said to her: ‘This was not taken by charge of horses or camels; so put the ropes on our necks.’” Al-Mahdi said to him: “O Abu al-Hasan, define its boundaries for me.” He said: “A boundary of it is Mount Uhud; a boundary of it is ‘Arish Misr; a boundary of it is the edge of the sea; and a boundary of it is Dumat al-Jandal.” He said to him: “All of that?” He said: “Yes, O Commander of the Faithful, all of this—indeed, all of this is among what the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) did not mobilize horses or camels against its people.” He said: “That is much; I will look into it.”

99-/6323 _8- From Jamil b. Darraj, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “Fatimah came to Abu Bakr seeking Fadak. He said: ‘Bring a Black or a Red (i.e., any person) to testify to that.’ So she brought Umm Ayman. He said to her: ‘What do you testify to?’ She said: ‘I testify that Jibril (peace be upon him) came to Muhammad (Allah bless him and his family) and said: “Allah says: ‘And give to the near of kin his due.’” Muhammad (Allah bless him and his family) did not know who they were, so he said: “O Jibril, ask your Lord who they are.” He said: “Fatimah is the near of kin.” So he gave her Fadak.’ They claimed that ‘Umar erased the document, though Abu Bakr had written it.”
99-/6324 _9- From ‘Atiyyah al-‘Awfi, who said: When the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) conquered Khaybar, and Allah bestowed Fadak upon him, and revealed to him ‘And give to the near of kin his due,’ he said: “O Fatimah, Fadak is for you.”

99-/6325 _10- From ‘Abd al-Rahman b. Salih: Al-Ma’mun wrote to ‘Ubaydullah b. Musa al-‘Absi asking him about the story of Fadak, so ‘Ubaydullah b. Musa wrote back to him with this hadith, which he narrated from al-Fudayl b. Marzuq, from ‘Atiyyah; so al-Ma’mun returned Fadak to the children of Fatimah (may Allah’s blessings be upon her).

99-/6334 _19- ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said: His saying, Exalted is He: “And give to the near of kin his due, and to the needy and the wayfarer” means the kin of the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family), and it was revealed regarding Fatimah (peace be upon her), so He assigned Fadak to her. The needy are from the children of Fatimah (peace be upon her), and the wayfarer is from the family of Muhammad (Allah bless him and his family), and the children of Fatimah (peace be upon her). He said: And His saying: “And do not squander wastefully” means: Do not spend wealth outside of obedience to Allah. “Surely the squanderers are the fellows of the satans”—the address is to the Prophet (Allah bless him and his family), but the intended are the people. Then He followed the address regarding the parents, saying: “And if you turn away from them,” meaning: from the parents, if you have dependents, or you are ill or poor, then say to them “a gentle word,” i.e., a good word—if you cannot show them kindness and service, then hope for them from Allah mercy.
(Qur’an 17:29) M. H. Shakir: And do not make your hand to be shackled to your neck, nor stretch it forth to the utmost (limit) of its stretching forth, lest you should (afterwards) sit down blamed, stripped off.
99-/6335 _1- ‘Ali b. Ibrahim said: The reason for its revelation was that the Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) would not turn away anyone who asked him for something he had. A man came to him and asked him, but nothing was present with him, so he said: “It will be, if Allah wills.” He said: “O Messenger of Allah, give me your shirt.” He (peace be upon him) would not turn anyone away from what he had, so he gave him his shirt. Then Allah revealed: “And do not make your hand to be shackled to your neck, nor stretch it forth to the utmost (limit) of its stretching forth…”—thus He forbade him to be miserly or to be extravagant and then sit stripped of clothing. He said: Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: “Al-mahsur means: naked.”

Then another came [and asked; he got up, took him by the hand, and gave him; then another came], so he said: “Allah is the Provider for us and for you.” Then he said: “The Messenger of Allah (Allah bless him and his family) would not be asked by anyone…”
