103. A Sign of the Wrath of Qamar Banī Hāshim (a.s.)

Āyatullāh Ḥāj Sayyid Saʿīd Ḥakīm, the esteemed Shia Marjaʿ, narrated that during the time of Ṣaddām, there was a very exquisite carpet in the shrine of Imām Husain(a.s.). Ṣaddām became greedy for it and ordered a group to go to the shrine of Sayyid al-Shuhadāʾ(a.s.) and bring back the carpet.

That night, Imām Husain(a.s.) appeared in a dream to the caretaker and ordered him to transfer the carpet to the shrine of Hazrat Abū al-Faḍl(a.s.), which he did.

When Ṣaddām's agents arrived and asked for the carpet, the caretaker told them it was in the shrine of Hazrat Abū al-Faḍl(a.s.).

The agents went to the shrine of the Radiant Moon of Banī Hāshim and said, “Get up, roll up the carpet, and give it to us.”

The caretaker replied, “I do not dare to do so. Whoever has the courage, let him come and take it.”

One of the agents, who was very strong and arrogant, stepped forward with pride, rolled up the carpet, lifted it from the ground, and placed it on his shoulder.

Suddenly, he was torn apart in the air and his pieces fell to the ground.

The agents then made the shrine's attendants swear that they would never speak of this incident to anyone. Therefore, the story was not made public while Ṣaddām was alive. After his death, the caretakers shared the story.
