130. Those Who Were Healed by the Turbat of Sayyid al-Shuhadāʾ (a.s.)

(1) On Saturday, 11/8/92 [corresponding to 27 Dhī al-Ḥijjah al-Ḥarām 1434 AH], Āyatullāh Ḥājj Sayyid Ṣādiq Rūḥānī said:

After the publication of some volumes of Fiqh al-Ṣādiq, the late Āyatullāh Mīrzā Mahdī Shīrāzī (quddisa sirruh) wrote a letter and stated:

"I am unable to adequately express appreciation for this valuable work, therefore, I am sending you a quantity of Turbat of Imām Husain (a.s.), which I myself took from the blessed grave of the Imam."

One time, Maḥmūd (Sayyid Maḥmūd Khosrowshāhī, his grandson) became ill. The doctors gave up hope. Āqā-ye Khosrowshāhī said, "I can no longer bear this." He left. I remembered that we had some of this Turbat. We dissolved it in water and, with difficulty, opened Maḥmūd’s mouth and poured it in. That very moment he rose and sat up.

(2) On Thursday, 11 Shawwāl 1422 [corresponding to 6/12/80 Shamsī], Āqā-ye Shaykh Jaʿfar Tabrīzī, son of the late Āyatullāh Ḥājj Mīrzā Jawād Tabrīzī, in the house of Āqā-ye Nāʾīnī and in the presence of Āqā-ye ʿAlīdūs, Āqā-ye Ganjī, Āqā-ye Bāʿithī and Āqā-ye Sayyidī, narrated a case where someone was healed through Turbat, among them his brother, Dr. Kāẓim.

While in Bangladesh, Dr. Kāẓim developed a problem in one of his eyes. The doctors gave up. He called the late Āyatullāh Tabrīzī and said, “I have this problem and want to come to Iran.” After the call ended, Āyatullāh asked, “Is anyone going to Bangladesh?” They told him a person named ʿAlī Nawāz was going. He sent a quantity of Turbat with him.

That night, Dr. Kāẓim placed the Turbat on his eye. When he woke up in the morning, there was no trace of the problem. He went to his treating doctor, who said, “My machine gives no diagnosis.”

(3) In that same gathering, he also spoke of a Sunni man, an assistant to that doctor, who for years had tried to have children without success. Through the Turbat, he became a father, and his entire tribe became Shīʿa.

(4) On Thursday, 27th Dhī al-Qaʿdah al-Ḥarām 1434 AH (corresponding to 11/7/92 Shamsī), Ḥājj Muḥsin Shīrāzī, a devoted eulogist of Ahl al-Bayt (‘alayhim al-salām), narrated:

A few years ago, I was opening a bottle of soda when suddenly the cap flew off with astonishing speed and hit my eye. My eye was severely injured—the white and black of the eye were disturbed. All the family members were distressed. I asked my mother, “Do you have Turbat?” She replied, “Yes, I have the original Turbat.” She brought a bit of it, I dissolved it in a teaspoon of water and poured it into my eye. Within moments, my eye returned to its normal state and regained its vision—only a bit of redness remained.

That evening, I went to Dr. Zamarrudīn and told him what had happened at noon that day. The doctor said, “Are you trying to fool me? This eye must have bled at least a month ago before healing.” I said, “No, this happened today.” He replied, “That’s impossible.” I said, “I poured Turbat on it, and it turned into this condition.” He stood up from his seat, kissed my forehead and said:

“This eye doesn’t need any treatment. I’ll just prescribe some drops to comfort your family. Otherwise, your problem has already been resolved by the grace of Imām Husain (a.s.).”
