The Virtue of Sūrat al-Fīl

99-/11903 _1- ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ:بِإِسْنَادِهِ،عَنْ أَبِي بَصِيرٍ،عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ فِي فَرَائِضِهِ: أَ لَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ شَهِدَ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ كُلُّ سَهْلٍ وَ جَبَلٍ وَ مَدَرٍ،بِأَنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُصَلِّينَ وَ يُنَادِي لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ مُنَادٍ:

صَدَقْتُمْ عَلَى عَبْدِي،قَبِلْتُ شَهَادَتَكُمْ [1]لَهُ وَ عَلَيْهِ،أَدْخِلُوهُ الْجَنَّةَ وَ لاَ تُحَاسِبُوهُ،فَإِنَّهُ مِمَّنْ أُحِبُّهُ وَ أُحِبُّ عَمَلَهُ».

99-/11903 _1- Ibn Bābawayh, through his chain of transmission, from Abū Baṣīr, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him), who said:

“Whoever recites in his obligatory prayers: ‘Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the companions of the elephant?’ [Qur’an 105:1], On the Day of Judgment, every valley, mountain, and piece of earth will testify on his behalf that he was among the people of prayer. And a caller will call on the Day of Judgment: ‘You have spoken the truth concerning My servant, and I accept your testimony for him and against him. Enter him into Paradise and do not hold him accountable, for he is from those whom I love and whose deeds I love.’”

99-/11904 _2- وَ مِنْ(خَوَاصِّ الْقُرْآنِ):رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)،أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ أَعَاذَهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ،وَ الْمَسْخِ فِي الدُّنْيَا،وَ إِنْ قُرِئَتْ عَلَى الرِّمَاحِ الَّتِي تُصَادِمَ كَسَرَتْ مَا تُصَادِمُهُ».

99-/11904 _2- And among the special properties of the Qur’an, it is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he said:

“Whoever recites this sūrah, Allah will protect him from punishment and transformation in this world. And if it is recited over spears that are being struck, it will break whatever they strike.”

99-/11905 _3- وَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ): «مَنْ قَرَأَهَا أَعَاذَهُ اللَّهُ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْأَلِيمِ،وَ الْمَسْخِ فِي الدُّنْيَا،وَ إِنْ قُرِئَتْ عَلَى الرِّمَاحِ الْخَطِّيَّةِ [2]كَسَرَتْ مَا تُصَادِمُهُ».

99-/11905 _3- And the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said:

“Whoever recites it, Allah will protect him from the painful punishment and transformation in this world. And if it is recited over sharp spears, it will break whatever they strike.”

99-/11906 _4- وَ قَالَ الصَّادِقُ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ): «مَا قُرِئَتْ عَلَى مَصَافَّ [3]إِلاَّ وَ انْصَرَعَ الْمَصَافُّ الثَّانِي الْمُقَابِلُ لِلْقَارِئِ لَهَا،وَ مَا كَانَ قِرَاءَتُهَا إِلاَّ قُوَّةً لِلْقَلْبِ».

99-/11906 _4- And al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) said:

“When it is recited over armies, the opposing army facing the reciter will retreat, and the recitation will strengthen the heart.”
