105. A new life through the grace of Hazrat Abū al-Faḍl (a.s.)

The late Ḥājj Naqī Dabbāghī narrated from his late father Ḥājj ʿAlī Akbar Dabbāghī who said: I saw a pilgrim in the shrine of the Moon of Banī Hāshim who was saying to Hazrat: “My master, I have 28 years left of my life. Ask Allah that I do not commit any sin in these 28 years.”

When he came out of the shrine, I asked him about his story, but he was unwilling to speak. After insistence, he said:

Two years ago, I fell seriously ill. The doctors had given up on me. One day I entered the throes of death; all my family members were crying around my bed. Suddenly, I saw a figure who said to me: “Get up.” I said: “I am unable.” He said: “Why not? Move.”

I moved and followed him. Outside the house, his feet lifted off the ground and ascended toward the sky, and I too followed and ascended after him.

We reached a place where several noble individuals were gathered. The one who had brought me said to the greatest among them: “Ask Allah to grant this youth healing.”

That great figure replied: “His time has ended.”

He responded: “This youth’s mother has placed her face on the kitchen floor and is beseeching me. Who will respond to her call?”

That great man—whom I later understood was the holy Messenger of Allah ﷺ—said: “I have asked Allah to give him thirty more years.”

From that time, two years have passed and 28 years remain of my life.

The one who took me up suddenly moved his cloak aside, and I saw that he had no arm.
