99-/5806 (1) Khawāss al-Qur’ān: It is narrated from the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) that he said: “Whoever recites this surah will be granted good deeds equal to the number of the Emigrants (Muhājirūn) and Helpers (Ansār). Whoever writes it with saffron and gives it to a woman with little milk to drink, her milk will increase. And whoever writes it and places it on his upper arm while he buys and sells, his sales and purchases will increase, people will love to deal with him, and his provision will increase by Allah’s permission as long as it remains upon him.”

99-/5807 (2) And al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever writes it with saffron and gives it to a woman with little milk to drink, her milk will increase. And whoever writes it and places it in his coffer or pocket, and goes out in the morning with it in his company, his earnings will increase; no one will turn away from what he has to sell and buy, and people will love to deal with him.”

In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. Alif Lam Ra. These are the verses of the Book and (of) a Quran that makes (things) clear. Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims. Leave them to eat and enjoy, and that hope may beguile them, for they will soon know. (Qur’an 15:1-3, translation by M. H. Shakir)

The meaning of “Alif Lam Ra” has already been discussed. [1]

99-/5808 (1) ‘Ali b. Ibrāhīm: He said: My father narrated to me, from Muhammad b. Abi ‘Umayr, from ‘Umar b. Udhaynah, from Rifa‘ah, from Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), who said: “When the Day of Resurrection comes, a caller from the presence of Allah will call out: ‘None shall enter Paradise except a Muslim.’ On that day those who disbelieved will wish that they had been Muslims. Then he recited: ‘Leave them to eat and enjoy, and to be diverted by (their) hope’ — that is, to be busied by it — ‘for soon they will know.’”

99-/5809 (2) Sa‘d b. ‘Abdillah said: Muhammad b. al-Husayn b. Abi ’l-Khattab narrated to us, from Muhammad b. Sinān, from ‘Ammār b. Marwān, from al-Munakhkhal b. Jamīl, from Jābir b. Yazīd, who said: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: “The Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), regarding Allah’s saying: ‘Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims,’ said: It will be when I and my Shī‘ah return, and ‘Uthmān and his Shī‘ah return, and we kill the Umayyads; then, at that time, those who disbelieved will wish that they had been Muslims.”

99-/5810 (3) And from him, he said: al-Hasan b. ‘Ali b. al-Nu‘mān narrated to us, from his father, from ‘Abdullah b. Muskān, from Kāmil the date-seller, who said: And Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding Allah’s saying: “Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been muslimīn,” with the sīn opened (i.e., pronounced with fatḥah).
