Prayer in the Kaʿbah and Karbala is better than a thousand prayers
Prayer in the Kaʿbah and Karbala is better than a thousand prayers
Fortieth: According to the narrations, prayer in al-Masjid al-Haram is equal to one hundred thousand prayers.
And it is narrated that prayer in the Mosque of Madinah is better than one thousand prayers, and al-Masjid al-Haram is equal to one thousand times that, making it one million.
And Shuʿayb al-ʿAqarqufi narrated from Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.) that he said:
“O Shuʿayb, no one performs prayer near al-Imam Husain (a.s.) except that it is accepted from him.
And for every rakʿah that you perform near that noble Imam (a.s.), there is for you the reward of one thousand pilgrimages, one thousand ʿUmrahs, the freeing of one thousand slaves, and one thousand standings in the path of Allah alongside a sent Prophet.” [1216]
Forty-first: Allah has made it obligatory upon the one intending the Kaʿbah to enter into Ihraam and to abandon worldly attachments, including women, perfumes, adornments, kohl, shade, and ordinary clothing. [1217]
And it is recommended for the visitor of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) to be dusty, hungry, and thirsty, [1218]
and to refrain from perfumes and worldly pleasures. [1219]
Forty-second: Makkah is the birthplace of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) and of ʿAli al-Murtada (a.s.),
and the burial place of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) is, during most times of the year, a place visited by the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) and Amir al-Muʾminin (a.s.). [1220]
Forty-third: Makkah is the place from which Islam first became manifest and where the Muslims became distinct from the polytheists.
And Karbala is the place from which faith (Imaan) became manifest and where the Shiʿah became distinct from their opponents.
For this reason it has been called kubbah al-islaam (“The Dome of Islam”). [1221]
Forty-fourth: The narrations mention one hundred and twenty special mercies for Makkah. [1222]
And for the means and causes connected to al-Imam Husain (a.s.), more than one hundred and twenty thousand special mercies have been mentioned.
Forty-fifth: Makkah is the place from which the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.) ascended to the Miʿraj on several occasions, whether from the house of Umm Hani or from the Shiʿb.
And the burial place of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) was a station of the Miʿraj of the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), for on the Night of Miʿraj he reached that place and from there ascended. [1223]
And that land was the Miʿraj of al-Imam Husain (a.s.) on the Day of ʿAshura, and it is also the Miʿraj of the angels.
