72. A Memory of the Thirsty Lips of Imām Ḥusain (a.s.)
72. ﯾﺎدي از ﻟﺐ ﺗﺸﻨﻪ ي اﻣﺎم ﺣﺴﯿﻦ ﻋﻠﯿﻪ اﻟﺴﻼم
(1 زاﺋﺮ اﻣﺎم ﺣﺴـﯿﻦ ﻋﻠﯿﻪ اﻟﺴـﻼم در ﻣﺴـﯿﺮ ﺗﺸﺮّف ﺧﻮد ﺑﻪ ﮐﺮﺑﻼ در »ﻣﺼﯿّﺐ« ﺑﺎ ﯾﮏ ﻣﺮد ﺳﻨّﯽ ﻣﺼﺎدف ﻣﯽ ﺷﻮد. او ﻣﯽ ﭘﺮﺳﺪ: ﺑﻪ ﮐﺠﺎ ﻣﯽ روي؟ زاﺋﺮ از ﺗﺮس ﻣﯽ ﮔﻮﯾﺪ: ﺑﻪ زﯾﺎرت ﺧﻠﯿﻔﻪ ي ﭼﻬﺎرم.
ﻣﺮد ﺳﻨّﯽ ﮐﻠّﯽ او را ﮐﺘﮏ ﻣﯽ زﻧﺪ و ﻣﯽ ﮔﻮﯾﺪ: ﺷﻤﺎ ﻣﺮده ﭘﺮﺳﺖ ﻫﺴﺘﯿﺪ.
آن زاﺋﺮ در ﻧﺠﻒ اﺷـﺮف ﺧﻄـﺎب ﺑﻪ ﻣﻮﻻي ﻣﺘّﻘﯿﺎن ﻋﺮض ﻣﯽ ﮐﻨـﺪ: آن ﻣﺮد ﺳـﻨّﯽ ﻋﻼوه ﺑﺮ اﯾﻨﮑﻪ ﺑﻪ ﺧﺎﻃﺮ ﺷـﻤﺎ ﻣﺮا ﮐﺘﮏ زد، ﺑﻪ ﺷﻤﺎ ﻧﯿﺰ ﺟﺴﺎرت ﻧﻤﻮد، ﭼﺮا او را ﺗﻨﺒﯿﻪ ﻧﻤﯽ ﮐﻨﯿﺪ؟!
ﺷﺐ در ﻋﺎﻟﻢ روءﯾﺎ ﺑﻪ ﺧﺪﻣﺖ اﻣﯿﺮﻣﻮءﻣﻨﺎن ﻋﻠﯿﻪ اﻟﺴﻼم ﻣﯽ رﺳﺪ. ﺣﻀﺮت ﻣﯽ ﻓﺮﻣﺎﯾﺪ: ﺗﻮ راﺳﺖ ﻣﯽ ﮔﻮﯾﯽ، وﻟﯽ او ﺣﻘّﯽ ﺑﻪ ﮔﺮدن ﻣﺎ دارد.
او روزي در ﻣﺰرﻋﻪ ﺧﻮد ﺑﻪ ﻫﻨﮕﺎم آﺑﯿﺎري زﻣﯿﻦ زراﻋﯽ اش ﺑﻪ ﯾﺎد ﻋﻄﺶ اﻣﺎم
ﺣﺴـﯿﻦ اﻓﺘـﺎد، رو ﺑﻪ ﻃﺮف ﮐﺮﺑﻼـ ﮐﺮد و ﮔﻔﺖ: ﻣﻦ ﺟﺎﻫﻠﻢ، ﺣﻘﯿﻘﺖ را ﻧﻤﯽ داﻧﻢ، اﻣﺎ اﮔﺮ ﺑﻪ ﺗﻮ آﺑﯽ ﻣﯽ دادﻧـﺪ، آﯾﺎ آب اﯾﻦ درﯾﺎ ﮐﻢ ﻣﯽ ﺷﺪ؟!
آﻧﮕﺎه ﺷﺮوع ﺑﻪ ﮔﺮﯾﻪ ﮐﺮد.
زاﺋﺮ ﺑﻪ ﻫﻨﮕﺎم ﻣﺮاﺟﻌﺖ در ﻣﺼﯿّﺐ ﺑﺎ آن ﻣﺮد ﺳﻨﯽ ﻣﺼﺎدف ﺷﺪ. آن ﻣﺮد از او ﭘﺮﺳﯿﺪ: آﯾﺎ از ﻣﻦ ﺑﻪ اﻣﺎم ﺧﻮد ﮔﻼﯾﻪ ﮐﺮدي؟

ﮔﻔﺖ: آري، اﮔﺮ ﺣﻘّﯽ ﺑﺮ آن ﺑﺰرﮔﻮاران ﻧﺪاﺷﺘﯽ، ﺗﻮ را ﮐﯿﻔﺮ ﻣﯽ دادﻧﺪ. آﻧﮕﺎه ﺧﻮاب ﺧﻮدش را ﻧﻘﻞ ﮐﺮد.
آن ﻣﺮد ﺳﻨّﯽ ﻣﻨﻘﻠﺐ ﺷﺪه ﺑﺎ ﭘﺎي ﭘﯿﺎده ﺑﻪ ﮐﺮﺑﻼ رﻓﺘﻪ ﺷﯿﻌﻪ ﺷﺪ(1). (2 ﻣﺮﺣﻮم ﺷﯿﺦ ﻣﺮﺗﻀﯽ رﯾﺰي اﺻﻔﻬﺎﻧﯽ ﻧﻘﻞ ﮐﺮد:
در ﯾﮑﯽ از روزﻫﺎي ﮔﺮم ﺗﺎﺑﺴﺘﺎن ﺑﺎ ﻣﺎﺷﯿﻦ ﺧﻮد ﺑﻪ روﺳﺘﺎﯾﯽ در ﭼﻬﺎرﻓﺮﺳﺨﯽ اﺻﻔﻬﺎن ﻣﯽ رﻓﺘﻢ. ﺑﻪ ﺷﺪت ﻋﻄﺶ ﺑﺮ ﻣﻦ ﻏﻠﺒﻪ ﮐﺮد. ﺑﻪ زﺣﻤﺖ ﺧﻮد را ﺑﻪ ﺳﺮﭼﺸﻤﻪ اي رﺳﺎﻧﯿﺪم، دﯾﺪم ﭼﺸﻤﻪ ﺧﺸﮏ ﺷﺪه اﺳﺖ.
ﺑﺎ زﺣﻤﺖ ﺗﻤﺎم ﺧﻮد را ﺑﻪ ﭼﺸﻤﻪ ي دﯾﮕﺮ رﺳﺎﻧﯿﺪم.
در آن ﻟﺤﻈﻪ ﺑﻪ ﯾﺎد ﺗﺸﻨﮕﯽ اﻣﺎم ﺣﺴﯿﻦ ﻋﻠﯿﻪ اﻟﺴﻼم اﻓﺘﺎدم، ﺑﺮاي ﺗﺸﻨﮕﯽ آن ﺣﻀﺮت ﺧﯿﻠﯽ اﺷﮏ رﯾﺨﺘﻢ. در آن ﺣﺎل ﺳﻪ ﺣﺎﺟﺖ ﻣﻬﻢ از ﺣﻮاﺋﺞ ﺧﻮد را ﺑﻪ ﺧﺎﻃﺮ آوردم، ﮐﻪ ﻫﻤﻪ ي آﻧﻬﺎ روا ﺷﺪ(2).
72. A Memory of the Thirsty Lips of Imām Ḥusain (a.s.)
1. A pilgrim on his way to visit Imām Ḥusain (a.s.) in Karbala encounters a Sunni man in the town of Muṣayyib.
The Sunni man asks him, “Where are you going?”
Out of fear, the pilgrim replies, “To visit the fourth caliph.”
The Sunni man severely beats him and says, “You people are worshipers of the dead.”
The pilgrim then reaches Najaf al-Ashraf and, turning to the Master of the God-conscious (Imām ʿAlī), says:
“That Sunni man not only beat me because of you, but also insulted you—why do you not punish him?”
That night, in a dream, he sees Amīr al-Muʾminīn (a.s.), who says:
“You speak the truth—but he has a right over us. One day, while irrigating his land, he remembered the thirst of Imām Ḥusain, turned toward Karbala and said:
‘I am ignorant and do not know the truth, but if they had given you water, would this sea have diminished at all?’
Then he began to weep.”
On his return journey, the pilgrim once again met that Sunni man in Muṣayyib.
The man asked him, “Did you complain about me to your Imām?”
He replied, “Yes. If you had no right upon them, they would have punished you.”
Then he recounted the dream he had seen.
The Sunni man was deeply shaken, walked to Karbala, and became a Shia.

2. The late Shaykh Murtaḍā Rīzī Iṣfahānī narrates:
“One hot summer day, I was driving toward a village about four farsakhs (approx. 24 km) from Isfahan.
Thirst overwhelmed me. With great difficulty, I reached a spring—only to find it had dried up.
With much effort, I reached another spring.
At that moment, I remembered the thirst of Imām Ḥusain (a.s.), and I wept intensely for his thirst.
In that state, I recalled three important personal needs, and all of them were fulfilled.”
