Ibrahim Ayah 13-14
Qur’an 14:13-14 (M. H. Shakir): And those who disbelieved said to their apostles: We will most certainly drive you forth from our land, or you shall return to our creed. So their Lord revealed to them: Most certainly We will destroy the unjust. And most certainly We will make you dwell in the land after them; this is for him who fears My majesty and fears My threat.
99-/5695: Ali ibn Ibrahim said: My father narrated to me, raising it to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), who said: “Whoever harms his neighbor out of greed for his dwelling, Allah will cause him to inherit his (the neighbor’s) house. And this is His saying: ‘And those who disbelieved said to their apostles … So their Lord revealed to them: Most certainly We will destroy the unjust. And most certainly We will make you dwell in the land after them.’”
Qur’an 14:15 (M. H. Shakir): And they sought judgment, and every insolent opposer was disappointed.
99-/5696: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub, from a number of our companions, from Sahl ibn Ziyad, from Muhammad ibn Sulayman, from his father, from Abu Basir, from him (peace be upon him), said: “One day the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) was sitting when the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) approached. The Messenger of Allah said to him: ‘Indeed there is in you a resemblance to Jesus son of Mary. Were it not that some groups of my community would say about you what the Christians said about Jesus son of Mary, I would say something about you such that you would not pass by any assembly of people except that they would take the dust from beneath your feet, seeking blessing thereby.’ He said: ‘Then two Bedouins, al-Mughira ibn Shu‘ba, and a number of Quraysh with them became angry and said: He was not satisfied except to set for his cousin a likeness to Jesus son of Mary! So Allah revealed to His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family): “And when a description of the son of Mary is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat. And they say: Are our gods better, or is he? They set it not forth to you save by way of disputation; nay, they are a contentious people. He was naught but a servant on whom We bestowed favor, and We made him an example for the children of Israel. And if We please, We could make among you”—meaning among Banu Hashim—“angels to be successors in the land”’ [Qur’an 43:57-60, Shakir]. He said: ‘Then al-Harith ibn ‘Amr al-Fihri became angry and said: O Allah, if this is indeed the truth from You—that Banu Hashim should inherit ruler after ruler—then rain down upon us stones from the sky or bring us a painful punishment. So Allah sent down, in response to al-Harith’s statement, this verse: “And Allah was not going to chastise them while you were among them, and Allah was not going to chastise them while they sought forgiveness”’ [Qur’an 8:33, Shakir].”
