Ibn Bābawayh, by his chain, from Abū ‘Abdillāh (peace be upon him), who said: Whoever recites Sūrat al-Ra‘d frequently, Allah will never strike him with a thunderbolt, even if he were a Nāsibī. And if he is a believer, He will admit him into Paradise without reckoning, and he will be allowed to intercede for everyone he knows from his household and his brothers.

Al-‘Ayyāshī: from ‘Uthmān ibn ‘Īsā, from al-Husayn ibn Abī al-‘Alā’, from Abū ‘Abdillāh (peace be upon him), who said: Whoever increases the recitation of Sūrat al-Ra‘d will never be struck by a thunderbolt, even if he is a Nāsibī—for none can be worse than a Nāsibī—and if he is a believer, Allah will admit him into Paradise without reckoning, and he will intercede for everyone he knows from his household and his believing brothers.

And among (the Special Properties of the Qur’an): it is narrated from the Prophet (Allah bless him and his family) that he said: Whoever recites this sūrah will have ten good deeds in reward equal in weight to every cloud that has passed and every cloud that will be; and he will be raised on the Day of Resurrection among those who fulfill the covenant of Allah. And whoever writes it and hangs it on a dark night after the last ‘Ishā’ prayer by the light of a fire, and immediately places it at the door of an unjust, tyrannical ruler, he will perish and his dominion will be removed.

99-/5433

And from al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him): Whoever writes it on a dark night after the ‘atama prayer, and immediately places it at the door of the unjust tyrannical ruler, his army and his subjects will rise up against him; his speech will not be listened to; his lifespan and his word will be shortened; and his breast will be constricted. And if it is placed at the door of an oppressor, or an unbeliever, or a heretic (zindīq), it will destroy him by Allah Most High’s permission.

He said: Alif Lām Mīm Rā means: I am Allah, the Life-Giver, the Death-Giver, the Provider.

Al-‘Ayyāshī: from Abū Labīd, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said: O Abā Labīd, in the letters of the Qur’an there is abundant knowledge. Surely Allah, Blessed and Exalted, revealed Alif Lām Mīm. That Book [1]; then Muḥammad (Allah bless him and his family) stood forth until his light appeared and his word was established; and he was born on the day he was born when one hundred and three years of the seventh millennium had passed. Then he said: Its explanation is in Allah’s Book, in the disjoined letters, if you count them without repetition; and there is not among the disjoined letters any letter whose days expire except that a Qā’im from Banū Hāshim stands at its expiration. Then he said: Alif is one, Lām is thirty, Mīm is forty, and Ṣād is ninety [2]; that is one hundred and sixty-one [3]. Then the beginning of the uprising of al-Ḥusayn ibn ‘Alī (peace be upon him) was: Alif Lām Mīm. Allāh [4]. When its term reached completion [5], a Qā’im from the descendants of al-‘Abbās arose at—
