Qur’an 2:144 (M. H. Shakir): Turn then thy face towards the Sacred Mosque; and wherever you are, turn your faces towards it.

99-/681_1- (al-Kāfī 3:6/300): Muhammad ibn Ya‘qūb, from ‘Alī ibn Ibrāhīm, from his father, from Hammad, from Harīz, from Zurārah, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him), said: When you face the qiblah with your face, do not turn your face away from the qiblah lest your prayer be invalidated, for indeed Allah, Mighty and Majestic, said to His Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) regarding the obligatory prayer: Turn then your face towards the Sacred Mosque, and wherever you are, turn your faces towards it. Be humble with your gaze and do not raise it to the sky; let it be directed before your face to the place of your prostration.

99-/682_2- (Tafsīr al-‘Ayyāshī 1:116/64): Al-‘Ayyāshī, from Harīz, [who said] Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: Face the qiblah with your face and do not turn your face away from the qiblah lest your prayer be invalidated, for indeed Allah says to His Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) regarding the obligatory prayer: Turn then your face towards the Sacred Mosque; and wherever you are, turn your faces towards it.

Qur’an 2:146-147 (M. H. Shakir):

Those to whom We have given the Book recognize him as they recognize their sons, and a party of them most surely conceal the truth while they know.

The truth is from your Lord, therefore you should not be of the doubters.

99-/683_1- (al-Kāfī 2:16/215): Muhammad ibn Ya‘qūb, from a number of our companions, from Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Khālid, from his father (marfū‘an), from Muhammad ibn Dāwūd al-Ghanawī, from al-Asbagh [ibn] Nubāta, from the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), who said: As for the people of the left hand, they are the Jews and the Christians. Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: Those to whom We have given the Book recognize him as they recognize their sons—they recognize Muhammad and the wilayah in the Torah and the Gospel just as they recognize their sons in their homes—and a party of them most surely conceal the truth while they know. The truth is from your Lord: that you are indeed the Messenger sent to them; so do not be among the doubters.

And when they denied what they had recognized, Allah tested them therewith and stripped from them the spirit of faith, and He caused three spirits to dwell in their bodies: the spirit of strength, the spirit of desire, and the spirit of the body. Then He associated them with the cattle, saying: They are nothing but like cattle, because a beast bears burdens by the spirit of strength, feeds by the spirit of desire, and moves by the spirit of the body.

99-/684_2- (Tafsīr al-Qummī 1:32): ‘Alī ibn Ibrāhīm said: My father narrated to me, from Ibn Abī ‘Umayr, from Hammad, from Harīz, from Abū ‘Abdillāh (peace be upon him), who said: This verse was revealed about the Jews and the Christians. Allah, Blessed and Exalted, says: Those to whom We have given the Book—meaning the Torah and the Gospel—recognize him, meaning they recognize the Messenger of Allah, as they recognize their sons, because Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent down to them in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Psalms the description of Muhammad (may Allah bless him and his family), the description of his companions, and his migration. And His saying, Exalted is He: Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah; and those with him are firm against the unbelievers, compassionate among themselves; you see them bowing down, prostrating themselves, seeking grace from Allah and pleasure; their marks are in their faces because of the effect of prostration; that is their description in the Torah, and their description in the Gospel. This is the description of Muhammad, the Messenger of Allah, in the Torah [and the Gospel], and the description of his companions. When Allah, Mighty and Majestic, sent him, the People of the Book recognized him, as He, Glorious is His Majesty, said: So when there came to them what they recognized, they disbelieved in it.

Qur’an 2:148 (M. H. Shakir): So vie with one another in good works; wherever you are, Allah will bring you all together; surely Allah has power over all things.

99-/685_1- (al-Ghayba li’l-Nu‘mānī 4:313): Muhammad ibn Ibrāhīm—known as Ibn Zaynab—said: ‘Abd al-Wāhid ibn ‘Abdillāh ibn Yūnus informed us, who said: Muhammad ibn Ja‘far al-Qurashī narrated to us, who said: Muhammad ibn al-Husayn ibn Abī al-Khattāb narrated to us, from Muhammad ibn Sinān, from Durays, from Abū Khālid al-Kābulī, from ‘Alī ibn al-Husayn, or from Muhammad ibn ‘Alī (peace be upon them), that he said: The fuqadā’ are a people who are missed from their beds and find themselves in the morning in Mecca. This is the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: Wherever you are, Allah will bring you all together. They are the companions of the Qā’im (peace be upon him).
