S 2 A 273

عن أبي بصير،عن أبي عبد الله(عليه السلام)،في قول الله عز وجل: إِنْ تُبْدُوا الصَّدَقٰاتِ فَنِعِمّٰا هِيَ وَ إِنْ تُخْفُوهٰا وَ تُؤْتُوهَا الْفُقَرٰاءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ. قال: «ليس من الزكاة،و صلتك قرابتك ليس من الزكاة».

English: Abu Basir narrates from Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: If you disclose alms, it is well; but if you hide them and give them to the poor, it is better for you (Qur’an 2:271). He said: “It is not from the zakat, and your maintaining ties with your kin is not from the zakat.”

99-/1501 _1- وَ عَنْهُ:عن عليّ بن إبراهيم،عن أبيه،عن ابن أبي عمير،عن إسحاق بن عمّار،عن أبي عبد الله(عليه السلام) في قول الله عز وجل: وَ إِنْ تُخْفُوهٰا وَ تُؤْتُوهَا الْفُقَرٰاءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ. فقال: «هي سوى الزكاة، إنّ الزكاة علانية غير سرّ».

99-/1501 English: And from him: from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from Ibn Abi Umayr, from Ishaq ibn Ammar, from Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: And if you hide it and give it to the poor, it is better for you (Qur’an 2:271). He said: “This is other than the zakat; indeed, zakat is public, not secret.”

99-/1502 _2- العيّاشيّ: عن الحلبيّ،عن أبي عبد الله(عليه السلام)،قال: سألتُه عن قول الله: وَ إِنْ تُخْفُوهٰا وَ تُؤْتُوهَا الْفُقَرٰاءَ فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكُمْ. قال: «ليست تلك الزكاة، ولكنّ الرجل يتصدّق لنفسه، و الزكاة علانية ليس بسرّ».

99-/1502 English: Al-Ayyashi: from al-Halabi, from Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him). He said: I asked him about the saying of Allah: And if you hide it and give it to the poor, it is better for you (Qur’an 2:271). He said: “That is not the zakat; rather, a man gives charity of his own (voluntarily) for himself, while zakat is public, not secret.”

قوله تعالى:

لِلْفُقَرٰاءِ الَّذِينَ أُحْصِرُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللّٰهِ لاٰ يَسْتَطِيعُونَ ضَرْباً فِي الْأَرْضِ يَحْسَبُهُمُ الْجٰاهِلُ أَغْنِيٰاءَ مِنَ التَّعَفُّفِ تَعْرِفُهُمْ بِسِيمٰاهُمْ لاٰ يَسْئَلُونَ النّٰاسَ إِلْحٰافاً[273]

(Qur’an 2:273) M. H. Shakir: (Charity) is for the poor who are confined in the way of Allah; they cannot enter the land; the ignorant man thinks them to be rich because of their abstaining (from begging); you can recognize them by their mark; they do not beg from men importunately; and whatever good thing you spend, surely Allah knows it.

99-/1503 _3- قال عليّ بن إبراهيم: هم الذين لا يسألون الناس إلحافا من الراضين،و المتجمّلين في الدين الذين لا يسألون الناس إلحافا،و لا يقدرون أن يضربوا في الأرض فيكسبوا،فيحسبهم الجاهل أغنياء من التعفّف عن السؤال».

99-/1503 English: Ali ibn Ibrahim said: “They are those who do not beg from people importunately—among the content and those who show dignity in the religion—those who do not beg from people importunately, and they are not able to journey in the land to earn, so the ignorant think them rich due to their refraining from asking.”

99-/1504 _4- أبو عليّ الطبرسيّ،قال: قال أبو جعفر(عليه السلام): «نزلت الآية في أصحاب الصفّة». قال: و كذلك رواه الكلبي عن ابن عبّاس،و هم نحو من أربعمائة رجل لم يكن لهم مساكن بالمدينة و لا عشائر يأوون إليهم فجعلوا أنفسهم في المسجد،و قالوا: نخرج في كل سرية [1] يبعثها رسول اللّه(صلّى اللّه عليه و آله). فحثّ اللّه الناس عليهم، فكان الرجل إذا أكل و عنده فضل أتاهم به إذا أمسى.

99-/1504 English: Abu Ali al-Tabrisi said: Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him) said: “The verse was revealed about the Companions of the Suffa.” He said: And likewise al-Kalbi narrated from Ibn Abbas. They were about four hundred men who had no dwellings in Medina and no clans to shelter them, so they placed themselves in the mosque and said: We will go out with every detachment [1] that the Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) sends out. So Allah urged the people concerning them, and when a man ate and had some surplus, he would bring it to them in the evening.

99-/1505 _5- العيّاشيّ: عن جابر الجعفيّ،عن أبي جعفر(عليه السلام)،قال: «إنّ الله يبغض الملحف» [2].

99-/1505 English: Al-Ayyashi: from Jabir al-Ju‘fi, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said: “Indeed Allah hates the importunate beggar” [2].

قوله تعالى:

اَلَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوٰالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهٰارِ سِرًّا وَ عَلاٰنِيَةً فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَ لاٰ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ لاٰ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ[274]

(Qur’an 2:274) M. H. Shakir: (As for) those who spend their property by night and by day, secretly and openly, their reward is with their Lord; and they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve.

99-/1506 _1- محمّد بن يعقوب: عن عليّ بن إبراهيم،عن أبيه،عن الحسين بن سعيد،عن فضالة بن أيّوب،عن أبي المغرا،عن أبي بصير،عن أبي عبد الله(عليه السلام)،قال: قلتُ: قوله عزّ وجلّ: اَلَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوٰالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهٰارِ سِرًّا وَ عَلاٰنِيَةً؟ قال: «ليس من الزكاة».

99-/1506 English: Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub: from Ali ibn Ibrahim, from his father, from al-Husayn ibn Sa‘id, from Fudalah ibn Ayyub, from Abu al-Mugra, from Abu Basir, from Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him). He said: I asked about His saying, Mighty and Majestic: Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and openly (Qur’an 2:274)? He said: “It is not from the zakat.”

99-/1507 _2- ابن بابويه،قال: حدّثنا محمّد بن عمر بن محمّد الجعابيّ،قال: حدّثنا أبو محمّد الحسن بن عبد الله بن محمّد بن العبّاس الرازيّ التميميّ،قال: حدّثني أبي [1]،قال: حدّثني سيّدي عليّ بن موسى الرضا،عن أبيه،عن آبائه(عليهم السلام)،عن أمير المؤمنين(عليه السلام)،قال: «قال رسول الله(صلّى الله عليه و آله) -و ذكر عدّة أحاديث،ثمّ قال:- قال: «نزلت: اَلَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوٰالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهٰارِ سِرًّا وَ عَلاٰنِيَةً في عليّ».

99-/1507 English: Ibn Babawayh said: Muhammad ibn ‘Umar ibn Muhammad al-Ji‘abi narrated to us; he said: Abu Muhammad al-Hasan ibn ‘Abdullah ibn Muhammad ibn al-‘Abbas al-Razi al-Tamimi narrated to us; he said: My father narrated to me [1]; he said: My master Ali ibn Musa al-Rida narrated to me, from his father, from his forefathers (peace be upon them), from the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him), who said: “The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) said—he mentioned several hadiths, then said—he said: ‘The verse: Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and openly (Qur’an 2:274) was revealed about Ali.’”

99-/1508 _3- العيّاشيّ عن أبي بصير،قال: قلتُ لأبي عبد الله(عليه السلام): قوله: اَلَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوٰالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهٰارِ سِرًّا وَ عَلاٰنِيَةً؟ قال: «ليس من الزكاة».

99-/1508 English: Al-Ayyashi, from Abu Basir, who said: I said to Abu Abdillah (peace be upon him), regarding His saying: Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and openly (Qur’an 2:274)? He said: “It is not from the zakat.”

99-/1509 _4- عن أبي إسحاق،قال: كان لعليّ بن أبي طالب(عليه السلام) أربعة دراهم،لم يملك غيرها،فتصدّق بدرهمٍ ليلاً،و بدرهمٍ نهاراً،و بدرهمٍ سرّاً،و بدرهمٍ علانيةً،فبلغ ذلك النبيّ(صلّى الله عليه و آله)،فقال: «يا عليّ،ما حملك على ما صنعتَ»؟ قال: «إنجاز موعود الله». فأنزل الله: اَلَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوٰالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهٰارِ سِرًّا وَ عَلاٰنِيَةً إلى آخر الآيات.

99-/1509 English: From Abu Ishaq, who said: “Ali ibn Abi Talib (peace be upon him) had four dirhams and owned nothing else. He gave one dirham in charity at night, one by day, one secretly, and one openly. This reached the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), who said: ‘O Ali, what moved you to do what you did?’ He said: ‘The fulfillment of Allah’s promise.’ Then Allah revealed: Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and openly to the end of the verses (Qur’an 2:274).”

99-/1510 _5- الشيخ المفيد في (الإختصاص): بإسناده،قال: قال رسول الله(صلّى الله عليه و آله): «يا عليّ ما عملتَ في ليلتك»؟ قال: «و لِمَ يا رسول الله؟». قال: «نزلت فيك أربعة معانٍ». قال: «بأبي أنت و أمّي،كانت معي أربعة دراهم،فتصدّقتُ بدرهمٍ ليلاً،و بدرهمٍ نهاراً،و بدرهمٍ سرّاً،و بدرهمٍ علانيةً». قال: «فإنّ الله أنزل فيك: اَلَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوٰالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهٰارِ سِرًّا وَ عَلاٰنِيَةً فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَ لاٰ خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ لاٰ هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ».

99-/1510 English: Shaykh al-Mufid in al-Ikhtisas, with his chain, said: The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) said: “O Ali, what did you do in your night?” He said: “Why, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Four matters were revealed about you.” He said: “May my father and mother be ransomed for you; I had four dirhams with me, so I gave one dirham in charity at night, one by day, one secretly, and one openly.” He said: “Verily Allah revealed about you: Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, secretly and openly, their reward is with their Lord; and they shall have no fear, nor shall they grieve (Qur’an 2:274).”
