Yunus Ayah 39-46

English: Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him) said: “The voice of Gabriel is from the heaven, and the voice of Iblis is from the earth. So follow the first voice, and beware of the latter lest you be tried by it.”

English: I say: The reports concerning the two callers are widespread, and Ibn Bābawayh mentioned some of them at the end of his book Kamāl al-Dīn wa Tamām al-Ni‘mah, and Muhammad b. Ibrahim al-Nu‘mānī at the end of his book al-Ghaybah. Some of that will come—if Allah, the Exalted, wills—under His saying: “If We please, We should send down upon them a sign from the heaven so that their necks should remain bowed before it” (Quran 26:4). 99-/4892 English: I said to Abu ‘Abdillah (peace be upon him): “People rebuke us and say: From where is the one in the right distinguished from the one in the wrong when both appear?” He said: “So what do you reply to them?” I said: “We reply nothing.” He said: “Say to them: When it occurs, the one who had believed in it before it occurs will affirm it. M. H. Shakir: And if they call you a liar, say: My work is for me and your work is for you; you are clear of what I do and I am clear of what you do.

M. H. Shakir: And there are those of them who hear you; can you make the deaf to hear, though they will not understand?

99-/4904 English: Al-‘Ayyāshī: from Jābir, from Abū Ja‘far (peace be upon him). He said: I asked him about the interpretation of this verse: “For every nation there is a messenger; so when their messenger comes, the matter is decided between them with justice, and they are not dealt with unjustly.” He said: “Its inner interpretation is that for every generation of this community there is a messenger from the Family of Muhammad who goes forth to the generation to whom he is a messenger; they are the friends (awliyā’), and they are the messengers.” As for His saying: “So when their messenger comes, the matter is decided between them with justice,” he said: “Its meaning is that the messengers judge with justice, and they are not wronged, as Allah has said.”
