Visiting the Sick by That Noble One (a.s.) on the Night and Day of ʿĀshūrāʾ
عيادت آن حضرت در شب و روز عاشورا
[باب عيادت مريض]، كه ثواب بسيار دارد، و در خبر است كه خداوند در روز قيامت عتاب مينمايد كه چرا به عيادت من نيامدي در روزي كه مريض بودم؟! عرض ميكند كه: تو منزهي از مرض خداوندا، ندا ميرسد كه: فلان مؤمن مريض شد و تو عيادت نكردي [259] و از آن جناب عيادت مرضي، و مجروحين حاصل شد، و انواع لطف و مرحمت مينمود، حتي نسبت به آن عبد أسود و غلام تركي، و خواست عيادت كند از ولدش علياكبر ميسر نشد، چون از شدت ادب آنحضرت را ندا نكرد، و لكن آخر نفس سلام نمود، و چون آن حضرت بر او رسيد، وفات نموده بود، فرياد برآورد كه: يا بنيقتلوك [260] پسر، تو را كشتند، بلي عيادت نمود فرزندش حضرت سجاد (عليهالسلام) را [ صفحه 122] در وقتي كه ميخواست به ميدان رود از احوالش سؤال نمود و عجب آنكه عيادت كننده پيش از مريض وفات نمود و تفصيل اين عيادت در عنوان شهادت بيايد (انشاءالله).

[Chapter: Visiting the Sick]
Visiting the sick (ʿiyādat al-marīḍ) carries immense reward. It is narrated that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will reproach a servant, saying: Why did you not visit Me on the day that I was ill?!
The servant will reply: O Allah, You are exalted above illness.
A call will come: Such-and-such believer became ill, and you did not visit him. [259]
From that noble one, Imam Husain (a.s.), visits to the sick and the wounded took place, and he showed every kind of kindness and compassion, even toward the black servant and the Turkish slave.
He also wished to visit his son, Ali al-Akbar (a.s.), but it was not possible, because due to the intensity of his respect and etiquette, Ali al-Akbar (a.s.) did not call out to him. However, with his final breath he offered salām.
When Imam Husain (a.s.) reached him, he had already passed away.
He cried out:
«يا بُنَيَّ قَتَلُوكَ»
“O my son! They have killed you.” [260]
Indeed, he did visit his son Imam al-Sajjad (a.s.) [ صفحه 122] when he intended to go out to the battlefield, and he inquired about his condition.
What is astonishing is that the visitor passed away before the sick person.
