The Arrangement of This Book and Its Twelve Titles

ترتيب اين كتاب و عناوين دوازده گانه

و مرتب ساختم آن را بر يك مقدمه، و چندين مقصد، كه آن معنون است.اما مقدمه: پس مشتمل است، برفهرست مطالب كتاب اجمالا، كه در دوازده عنوان مبين خواهد شد، و آن چنين است:عنوان اول: در ذكر خصوصيات آنجناب است در عوالم وجود و محال شهود، از اول خلقت تا آخر روز نهايت، و در آن هفت مقصد است:مقصد اول: در خصائص آنسرور، در ابتداي خلقت نور شريفش.مقصد دوم: در خصائص آنحضرت به اعتبار انتقالات آن نور پاك در عوالم، از عالم ذر و اشباح، و انعكاس در ظهر آدم، و انتقال آن به شجره‌ي بهشت، و به سوي دنيا، وخصائص حمل او.مقصد سوم: درخصائص حال ولادت، و ايام طفوليتش.مقصد چهارم: در خصائص محل شهادتش.مقصد پنجم: در خصائص محل بعد از شهادتش، نسبت به روح، سر، و جسد آن سرور. [ صفحه 87] مقصد ششم: در خصائص محل قيامتش.مقصد هفتم: در خصائص محل اوست بعد از انقضاء روز نشور.عنوان دوم: در خصوصيت صفات حميده و اخلاق پسنديده‌ي آنجناب و عبادات و طاعاتش در ايام عمر.عنوان سوم: در خصوصيت صفات، و اخلاق، و عباداتي كه از آنجناب ظاهر شد در روز عاشورا، كه از آن جمله است: جمع ما بين عبادات ظاهره و باطنه، و مكارم اخلاق، و جمع ما بين عباداتي كه جمع آن ممكن است، و جمع ما بين عبادات و صفات حسنه كه مانند جمع اضداد است، و جمع جميع اقسام بلا، و تحمل آن، و شكر بر آن، و جمع جميع عبادات مخصوصي كه مختص آن جناب بوده.عنوان چهارم: در بيان الطاف و احترامات خاصه‌ي الهي نسبت به آن جناب مي‌باشد، كه آن هشت قسم است:اول: در خصوصيت تعبير آن الطاف خاصه‌ي الهيه نسبت به آن حضرت.دوم: در آنچه به او عطا نموده است از آيات صفات خود. [150] .سوم: آنچه به او داده است، از كلام مجيد و غير آن، از كلمات خود.چهارم: در آنچه به او داده است از افضل مخلوقات، كه خاتم است.پنجم: در آنچه به او داده است از اعظم مخلوقات، كه عرش است.ششم: در آنچه به او داده است از احسن مخلوقات، كه بهشت است.هفتم: در آنچه به او داده است از ساير مخلوقات فاضله.هشتم: در احترامات و تشريفاتي كه از براي آنحضرت است از اول وجودش، تا نقضاي عالم.عنوان پنجم: در بيان مظهر لطف خاص رباني نسبت به آن جناب.عنوان ششم: در خصوصياتي كه متعلق است به خشوع، نسبت به ذكر آنجناب، و رقت و گريه بر او. [ صفحه 88] عنوان هفتم: در خصوصيات زيارت آن امام شهيد است.عنوان هشتم: در خصوصيت آن جناب كه متعلق است به قرآن مجيد.عنوان نهم: در خصوصيات كه متعلق است به بيت‌الله الحرام، و در آن چهار مقصد است:اول اينكه: او خود بيت‌الله است حقيقة.دوم آنكه: آنجناب تعظيم نمود كعبه را تعظيم خاصي، پس خداوند از براي او فضيلتي قرار داد مخصوص، و صفاتي كه شبيه است به صفات او، با تفاوتي كه بيانش سبب گريه است.سوم آنكه: ثواب زيارت او را موازنه و معادله، به ثواب حج و عمره قرار داد، به جهت نكته‌ي خاصي.چهارم آنكه: او را قرار داد بيت الحرام، و از براي او حجاجي قرار داد بالخصوص، پس از براي اصحابش حج خاصي است، و از براي اهل بيتش حج مخصوصي، و از براي انبياء و ملائكه حج مخصوصي نسبت به آن.عنوان دهم: در خصائص آن سرور نسبت به ملائكه.عنوان يازدهم: در خصائص آن حضرت نسبت به انبياء عظام، و در آن چند مقصد و ابواب است، كه هر بابي مخصوص است به يكي از انبياء.باب آدم (عليه‌السلام)، باب نوح (عليه‌السلام)، باب ادريس (عليه‌السلام)، باب ابراهيم (عليه‌السلام)، باب اسماعيل، (عليه‌السلام) باب يعقوب (عليه‌السلام)، باب يوسف (عليه‌السلام)، باب صالح (عليه‌السلام)، باب هود (عليه‌السلام)، باب شعيب (عليه‌السلام)، باب ايوب (عليه‌السلام)، باب زكريا (عليه‌السلام)، باب يحيي (عليه‌السلام)، باب اسماعيل صادق الوعد (عليه‌السلام)، باب موسي (عليه‌السلام)، باب داود (عليه‌السلام)، باب سليمان (عليه‌السلام)، باب عيسي (عليه‌السلام).عنوان دوازدهم: در آنچه متعلق است به حضرت خاتم الأنبياء (صلي الله عليه و آله) از آنحضرت، و اين عنوان ختام كلام است، خداوند ختام را خير قرار دهد. The Arrangement of This Book and Its Twelve Titles

I arranged it into one introduction and several objectives (maqāṣid), each of which is designated by a title.

As for the introduction: it contains a general index of the contents of the book, which will be explained under twelve titles, as follows:

Title One: Concerning the special characteristics of that noble one (a.s.) in the worlds of existence and the realms of witnessing, from the beginning of creation until the final Day. It contains seven objectives:

First Objective: On the special characteristics of that master (a.s.) at the beginning of the creation of his noble light.

Second Objective: On the special characteristics of that noble one (a.s.) regarding the transitions of that pure light through the various worlds: from the World of Dharr, the World of Shadows Ashbāḥ, its reflection in the loins of Adam (a.s.), its transfer to the tree of Paradise, then to this world, and the special characteristics of his being carried in the womb.

Third Objective: On the special characteristics of his birth and the days of his childhood.

Fourth Objective: On the special characteristics of the place of his martyrdom.

Fifth Objective: On the special characteristics of his abode after martyrdom, with respect to the soul, the head, and the body of that noble one (a.s.).

Sixth Objective: On the special characteristics of the place of his Resurrection.

Seventh Objective: On his special abode after the completion of the Day of Resurrection.

Title Two: Concerning the special characteristics of his noble qualities, praiseworthy character, worship, and acts of obedience during his lifetime.

Title Three: Concerning the special characteristics of the qualities, character, and acts of worship that appeared from him on the Day of ʿĀshūrāʾ. Among these are:

His combining outward and inward acts of worship;

His combining acts of worship that can be gathered together;

His combining acts of worship and noble qualities whose combination resembles the union of opposites;

His gathering together every form of affliction and enduring them;

His gratitude for those afflictions;

And his combining all those specific acts of worship that were unique to him.

Title Four: Concerning the special divine favors and honors bestowed upon him. These are of eight kinds:

First: The unique manner in which these special divine favors were expressed toward him.

Second: What Allah granted him from the manifestations of His own attributes. [150]

Third: What Allah granted him from His Majestic Speech and other divine words.

Fourth: What Allah granted him from the most excellent of created beings, namely the Seal of the Prophets (s.a.w.a.).

Fifth: What Allah granted him from the greatest of created things, namely the Throne (ʿArsh).

Sixth: What Allah granted him from the most beautiful of created things, namely Paradise.

Seventh: What Allah granted him from the other noble creations.

Eighth: The honors and distinctions granted to him from the beginning of his existence until the end of the world.

Title Five: Concerning the manifestation of the special divine grace bestowed upon that noble one (a.s.).

Title Six: Concerning the special characteristics related to humility, reverence, tenderness of heart, and weeping at his remembrance.

Title Seven: Concerning the special characteristics of visiting (ziyārah) the Martyred Imam (a.s.).

Title Eight: Concerning the special relationship of that noble one (a.s.) with the Noble Qur'an.

Title Nine: Concerning the special characteristics related to the Sacred House of Allah (Bayt Allāh al-Ḥarām). It contains four objectives:

First: That he himself is truly the House of Allah.

Second: That he honored the Kaʿbah with a unique form of reverence; therefore Allah granted him a special virtue and attributes resembling its attributes, though with differences whose explanation brings tears.

Third: That the reward of visiting him was made equivalent and comparable to the reward of Hajj and ʿUmrah, due to a special wisdom.

Fourth: That he was made the Sacred House (Bayt al-Ḥarām), and special pilgrims were assigned to him. Thus his companions have a special pilgrimage, his Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.) have a special pilgrimage, and the Prophets (a.s.) and angels also have a special pilgrimage connected to him.

Title Ten: Concerning the special characteristics of that master (a.s.) in relation to the angels.

Title Eleven: Concerning the special characteristics of that noble one (a.s.) in relation to the great Prophets (a.s.). It contains several objectives and chapters, each chapter dedicated to one of the Prophets:

The Chapter of Adam (a.s.),

The Chapter of Nuh (a.s.),

The Chapter of Idris (a.s.),

The Chapter of Ibrahim (a.s.),

The Chapter of Ismaʿil (a.s.),

The Chapter of Yaʿqub (a.s.),

The Chapter of Yusuf (a.s.),

The Chapter of Salih (a.s.),

The Chapter of Hud (a.s.),

The Chapter of Shuʿayb (a.s.),

The Chapter of Ayyub (a.s.),

The Chapter of Zakariyya (a.s.),

The Chapter of Yahya (a.s.),

The Chapter of Ismaʿil al-Sadiq al-Waʿd (a.s.),

The Chapter of Musa (a.s.),

The Chapter of Dawud (a.s.),

The Chapter of Sulayman (a.s.),

The Chapter of ʿIsa (a.s.).

Title Twelve: Concerning that which relates to the Seal of the Prophets (s.a.w.a.) in connection with that noble one (a.s.).

This title is the conclusion of the discourse.
