S 57 Ayat 28

O you who believe! Be careful of (your duty to) Allah and believe in His Messenger: He will give you two portions of His mercy, and make for you a light with which you will walk...

99-/10538 Muhammad ibn Ya‘qub, from Ahmad ibn Idris, from Muhammad ibn ‘Abd al-Jabbar, from Ibn Faddal, from Tha‘labah ibn Maymun, from Abu al-Jarud, said: I said to Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him): Allah has certainly given the People of the Book much good. He said: “And what is that?” I said: The statement of Allah, the Mighty and Majestic: Those to whom We gave the Book before it, they believe in it… until His saying: These will be given their reward twice because they are patient. [Surah al-Qasas 28:52–54] He said: “Allah has granted you just as He granted them.”

Then he recited:

O you who believe! be careful of (your duty to) Allah and believe in His Messenger: He will give you two portions of His mercy, and make for you a light with which you will walk.

“Meaning: an Imam by whom you are guided.”

99-/10545 ʿAlī ibn Ibrāhīm, regarding the saying of Allah, the Exalted: He will give you two portions of His mercy, — he said: "Two shares from His mercy: One of them is that He does not admit him into the Fire, and the second is that He admits him into Paradise." And His saying, and will make for you a light with which you will walk, means: faith (الإيمان).
