Where are the visitors of Imam Husain (a.s.) ibn Ali (a.s.)

“Where are the visitors of Imam Husain (a.s.) ibn Ali (a.s.)?”

The detailed explanation of this matter is as follows: If the visitor attains those fruits and benefits, then he departs from this world like the day on which he was born from his mother, or he reaches the highest stations of ʿIlliyyīn and the Muqarrabīn (those brought near to Allah). Then glad tidings to him, for there is no blessing greater than that.

And if there are obstacles in him due to sins, preventing him from reaching those ranks, and he leaves this world while still burdened with sins, then there is hope that his affairs will be rectified at the time of death, or at the beginning of Barzakh, through the blessing of the ziyārah of that Noble One (a.s.).

And if that too is delayed because of the greatness of his sins, then there is hope that that Noble One (a.s.) will visit him during the days of Barzakh according to his preparedness and capacity [831].

And if he is deprived even of that due to the severity of the obstacles, then when the Great Gathering takes place, and the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) together with Jibrāʾīl come searching for the visitors, there is hope that they will recognize him by the mark upon his forehead and rescue him. [832]

And if even this capacity has departed, and that mark has been erased by the darkness of sins, then there is still hope for his salvation [through another means]. When the call is made:

“Where are the Shias of the Family of Muhammad (s.a.w.a.)?”

Then a group will rise whose number none knows except Allah.

Then another call will be made:

“Where are the visitors of Imam Husain (a.s.) ibn Ali (a.s.)?”

Then another group will rise.

Then it will be said to them:

“Take by the hand whomever you wish and enter Paradise.”

Then each person will take by the hand whomever he wishes, to the extent that a person will say to him:

“One day you stood up before me out of respect.”

So he will take him by the hand, and no one will prevent him. [833]

And if he does not possess this capacity, nor is he worthy that someone should take him by the hand, there still remains hope for his salvation through another call, concerning which a tradition has been narrated from Imam al-Sadiq (a.s.):

When the Day of Resurrection arrives, a caller will proclaim:

“Where are the visitors of Imam Husain (a.s.) ibn Ali (a.s.)?”

Then a great multitude will rise, whose number none knows except Allah.

Then it will be said to them:

“What was your purpose in visiting the grave of Imam Husain (a.s.)?”

They will reply:

“We did so out of love for the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.), Ali al-Murtada (a.s.), Fatimah al-Zahra (a.s.), and out of compassion for him because of all the afflictions that befell him.”

Then it will be proclaimed:

“Behold! Muhammad (s.a.w.a.), Ali (a.s.), Fatimah (a.s.), Hasan (a.s.), and Imam Husain (a.s.) are present. Join them and enter beneath the banner of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.), which is in the hand of Ali (a.s.).”

Then they will proceed and gather around the banner. [834]

The author says:

O assembly of sinners! If you are among the visitors of Imam Husain (a.s.), perhaps you do not possess the capacity for the Messenger (s.a.w.a.) and Jibrāʾīl to come and take you by the arm, nor the capacity for you to take someone else by the hand and lead him into Paradise.

Therefore, answer this call yourselves. Rise up and attach yourselves to this banner, even if you find a place only in the last row.

And if you do not even possess this capacity, and due to the heaviness of your sins you are unable to rise from your place, then still do not despair of the effects of the ziyārah of that Noble One (a.s.).

Rather, remain hopeful for deliverance in another state that will occur in the Gathering, for in it there is great hope.
