8. The Favor of Imam al-Zaman (may peace be upon him) upon Mourning Gatherings
On Saturday, 4/8/1392 (solar) equivalent to 20th Dhu al-Hijjah 1434 AH, in Kerman, a poet devoted to Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.), Agha Haj Ahmad Khorasani from Bam, who is the author of the poetry collection Soghnama-ye Bam, came to Kerman. In the house of Agha Sheikh al-Ra’is he narrated that years ago he had become heavily in debt and for that reason, for two years he was unable to hold a mourning gathering (majlis) of lamentation.
One night, in a dream, he reached the presence of the sacred Imam al-Mahdi (may our souls be sacrificed for him) and pleaded:
“O master! Please pray for the forgiveness of my father and mother. O master! I long to visit the House of God (the Ka‘bah). O master! I have many debts, and I wish to repay them.”
The Imam replied:
“Why have you suspended the mourning for my grandfather for two years?”
He said,
“I am greatly in debt and cannot hold a mourning gathering.”
The Imam responded:
“The expenses of the mourning for my grandfather are upon us; they do not concern you. Your debts will also be paid, you will go to Mecca, and God will forgive your father and mother.”
I woke up from sleep and prepared to organize the mourning gathering. I did hold the majlis, and its total cost came to 600 tomans.
A few days later, I did a business transaction and made exactly 600 tomans profit. In a short time, 15,000 tomans came into my hands. I registered and went to Mecca, and likewise, in a short time, my debts were paid off.
After some time I saw my father in a dream and asked about his situation. He said:
“I was imprisoned, but I have been freed from the prison.”
