The Glad Tidings of the Birth of Yaḥyā (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.) from Allah
The Glad Tidings of the Birth of Yaḥyā (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.) from Allah
First Matter: Concerning the parallels that are derived from the traditions, we say:
The glad tidings of the birth of Yaḥyā (a.s.) came from Allah, and likewise the glad tidings of the birth of Imam Husain (a.s.) came from Allah.
The first glad tiding is His statement:
“O Zakariyyā! Indeed We give you glad tidings of a son whose name shall be Yaḥyā.” (Surah Maryam 19:7) [1399]
And the second glad tiding was when the angels said to the Holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.):
“Allah gives you glad tidings of a child who will be born from Fāṭimah (a.s.).”
However, the glad tiding of Yaḥyā (a.s.) became the cause of joy for Zakariyyā (a.s.), whereas the glad tiding of Imam Husain (a.s.) became the cause of sorrow.
For his mother conceived him with grief and gave birth to him with grief, as is narrated in the tradition that the intended person is Lady Fāṭimah (a.s.). [1400]
Both Yaḥyā (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.) were born after six months of gestation. [1401]
And Allah Himself directly gave a name to both of them. [1402]
Neither of them suckled from a woman's breast.
Rather, Yaḥyā (a.s.) was nourished from the heavens, [1403]
and Imam Husain (a.s.) was nourished from the Mighty Throne, meaning from the tongue of the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.), from which he received milk. [1404]
And the foreheads of both of them shone with radiance. [1405]
Neither of them experienced lasting joy during their lifetimes.
If some joy happened to come to them, it was quickly transformed into sorrow. [1406]
The killers of both were illegitimate offspring (walad al-zina).
And it is narrated:
“There is a place in the Fire which no one deserves except the killer of Imam Husain (a.s.) and the killer of Yaḥyā (a.s.).”
The heavens wept blood for both Yaḥyā (a.s.) and Imam Husain (a.s.),
and for both of them
the earth wept blood. [1407]
The heads of both spoke after their martyrdom.
The head of Yaḥyā (a.s.) said to the king:
“Fear Allah.” [1408]
And the head of Imam Husain (a.s.) repeatedly recited the Qur’an and proclaimed:
“There is no power and no strength except through Allah.”
Yaḥyā (a.s.) was killed by way of patient endurance (sabr).
And Imam Husain (a.s.), although he was martyred upon the battlefield, was nevertheless also killed by way of patient endurance (sabr), as Imam al-Sajjād (a.s.) stated. [1409]
