Al-Isra Ayah 111

A bad deed, and between that there is moderation, a good deed; so you must hold fast to the good deed between the two bad deeds.

99-/6595 _14- From Jabir, from Abu Ja‘far (peace be upon him), who said: I asked him about the interpretation of this verse in Allah’s saying: “And do not utter your prayer in a very loud voice nor be silent with it, and seek a way between these” (al-Isra 17:110). He said: Do not proclaim loudly the guardianship of ‘Ali (peace be upon him), for that is the prayer, nor what I have honored him with until I give you leave regarding it, and that is His saying: “And do not utter your prayer in a very loud voice nor be silent with it, and seek a way between these.” He said: Do not proclaim loudly the guardianship of ‘Ali (peace be upon him), for that is the prayer, nor what I have honored him with until I give you leave regarding it, and that is His saying: “And do not utter your prayer”; as for His saying: “nor be silent with it,” He is saying: do not conceal that from ‘Ali (peace be upon him), that is, inform him of what I have honored him with. And as for His saying: “and seek a way between these,” He is saying: you ask Me to permit you to proclaim openly the matter of ‘Ali (peace be upon him), his guardianship. So He permitted him to make that manifest on the Day of Ghadir Khumm, and that is his saying that day: O Allah, whoever I am his master, ‘Ali is his master. O Allah, befriend whoever befriends him, and be the enemy of whoever is hostile to him.

And say: All praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has no partner in the kingdom, and Who has no helper to save Him from humiliation; and proclaim His greatness magnifying (Him). (al-Isra 17:111, M. H. Shakir)

99-/6596 _1- ‘Ali ibn Ibrahim said: He has not been abased that He should need a protecting friend to help Him.

99-/6597 _2- Al-‘Ayyashi: from al-Nawfali, from al-Sakuni, from Ja‘far ibn Muhammad, from his father (peace be upon them), who said: The Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family), having missed a man, said: What kept you away from us? He said: Sickness and dependents. He said: Shall I not teach you some words by which you supplicate, and Allah will remove sickness from you and banish poverty from you? You say: There is no power and no strength except with Allah, the Most High, the Great. I rely upon the Living One Who does not die. And all praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has no partner in the kingdom, and Who has no helper to save Him from humiliation; and proclaim His greatness magnifying Him.

99-/6598 _3- From ‘Abd Allah ibn Sinan, who said: I complained to Abu ‘Abd Allah (peace be upon him). He said: Shall I not teach you something which, if you say it, Allah will settle your debt for you, revive you, and improve your condition? I said: How much I am in need of that. So he taught him this supplication: Say after the dawn prayer: I rely upon the Living One Who does not die. And all praise is due to Allah, Who has not taken a son and Who has no partner in the kingdom, and Who has no helper to save Him from humiliation; and proclaim His greatness magnifying Him. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from misery and poverty, and from being overcome by debt and sickness, and I ask You to help me to render Your due to You and to the people.

And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord which you hope for, speak to them a gentle word. (al-Isra 17:28, M. H. Shakir)

99- _1- Ibn Shahr Ashub, quoting from the book of al-Shirazi: When Fatimah (peace be upon her) described her condition and asked for a maidservant, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) wept and said: O Fatimah, by Him Who sent me with the truth, there are four hundred men in the mosque who have neither food nor clothing; and were it not for my fear of one matter, I would have given you what you asked. O Fatimah, I do not wish that your reward be transferred from you to the maidservant, and I fear that ‘Ali ibn Abi Talib will take you to task on the Day of Resurrection before Allah, Mighty and Majestic, when he seeks his right from you. Then he taught her the Prayer of Tasbih. The Commander of the Faithful said: You went intending from the Messenger of Allah something of this world, but Allah gave us the reward of the Hereafter. Abu Hurayrah said: When the Messenger of Allah left Fatimah, Allah revealed to His Messenger: “And if you turn away from them to seek mercy from your Lord which you hope for,” meaning from your kin and your daughter Fatimah, “to seek,” that is, to ask for mercy from your Lord, meaning provision from your Lord which you hope for, “then speak to them a gentle word,” meaning a good word. When this verse was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family) sent her a maidservant to serve her and named her Fiddah.

Say: Call on those whom you assert besides Him; so they shall not control the removal of distress from you nor (can they) change it. (al-Isra 17:56, M. H. Shakir)
