4. The Ark of Salvation

Thousands of years before the creation of man, the Pen of Divine Decree wrote on the Throne of the All-Bountiful Creator:

"Indeed, Husain is the lamp of guidance and the ark of salvation." Husain is a beacon of guidance and a ship of salvation.

Imam Husain (a.s.)) saw the boundary of creed in light, and among all the peoples of the world, he has drawn countless hearts toward himself, making them among his lovers and devotees.

Benefiting from the uprising of the Master of Martyrs is not limited to the Shia or Muslims. The valuable book "al-Husain fī al-Fikr al-Masīḥī" (Husain in Christian Thought) is a truthful example of this claim.

His life-giving and awakening words were not merely addressed to Muslims or religious believers, but to all awakened consciences throughout the ages. He said:

"If you have no religion, and do not fear the Resurrection, then at least be free men in your world."

Meaning:

If you are without religion and do not fear the Day of Judgment, at least be free and honorable in this world.

The insightful contemporary poet, the late Saʿdī Zamān, beautifully composed:

He sent a proclamation from the killing field of Karbala With Zaynab and Sajjād toward Shām (Syria) A message written in blood was in that declaration: Mankind must be free from the shackles of bondage.

The poet Iqbal Lāhorī (1289–1353 AH), in this connection, said:

The secret of the Qur’an we learned from Husain, From his fire, we gathered the flames. His blood unveiled these mysteries; It awakened the sleeping nation. He uprooted tyranny until Qiyāmah. His wave of blood created new life in the garden.

A contemporary Kurdish poet also says in this regard:

If you desire to be like Husain, then sacrifice your head like him. The condition of this battlefield is to play with one’s own blood.

The plain of Karbala is not less than the sanctuary of the Kaʿbah; It holds a hundred times more honor than that valley which is said to be secure.

And in the final verse, in his signature (takhaLLUṣ), he says:

“I am a Sunni; my name is Riḍā, servant of the Imam Murtaḍā.”

Although this contemporary poet is not from among the followers of Ahl al-Bayt (a.s.), his words are drawn from the sayings of Imam Husain (a.s.), where he said:

"Indeed, I do not see death except as felicity, and life with the oppressors except as humiliation."

I see honorable death as happiness, and living under the yoke of tyrants as destruction.
