The Virtue of Surah Al-Takasur

99-/11857 _1- مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ:عَنْ عِدَّةٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا،عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ،عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ،عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الدِّهْقَانِ،عَنْ دُرُسْتَ،عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،قَالَ:«قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ): مَنْ قَرَأَ أَلْهٰاكُمُ التَّكٰاثُرُ عِنْدَ النَّوْمِ وُقِيَ فِتْنَةَ الْقَبْرِ».

ابْنُ بَابَوَيْهِ:عَنْ أَبِيهِ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى الْعَطَّارُ،قَالَ:حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ،عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ،عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ الدِّهْقَانِ،عَنْ دُرُسْتَ،عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،مِثْلَهُ [1].

99-/11857 Muḥammad ibn Yaʿqūb, from a number of our companions, from Sahl ibn Ziyād, from Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn Bashīr, from ʿUbayd Allāh al-Dihqān, from Durust, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him), who said: “The Messenger of Allah (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) said: Whoever recites Alhākum al-Takāthur at bedtime will be protected from the trial of the grave.”

Ibn Bābawayh, from his father, who said: Muḥammad ibn Yaḥyā al-ʿAṭṭār narrated to me, who said: Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad narrated to me, from Sahl ibn Ziyād, from Jaʿfar ibn Muḥammad ibn Bashshār, from ʿUbayd Allāh al-Dihqān, from Durust, from Abū ʿAbdillāh (peace be upon him), with the same wording.

99-/11858 _2- وَ عَنْهُ:بِإِسْنَادِهِ،عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ)،قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ سُورَةَ أَلْهٰاكُمُ التَّكٰاثُرُ فِي فَرِيضَةٍ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ثَوَابَ أَجْرِ مِائَةِ شَهِيدٍ،وَ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا فِي نَافِلَةٍ كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ثَوَابَ خَمْسِينَ شَهِيداً،وَ صَلَّى مَعَهُ فِي فَرِيضَتِهِ أَرْبَعُونَ صَفّاً مِنَ الْمَلاَئِكَةِ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى».

99-/11858 And from (Khawāṣṣ al-Qur’ān), it is narrated from the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) that he said: “Whoever recites this sūrah, it will be as though he has recited one thousand verses of the Qur’an, and for every letter he recites, Allah will record for him one good deed, erase one sin, and raise him one degree in rank.”

99-/11859 _3- وَ مِنْ(خَوَاصِّ الْقُرْآنِ):رُوِيَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)،أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «مَنْ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ لَمْ يُحَاسِبْهُ اللَّهُ بِالنِّعَمِ الَّتِي أَنْعَمَ اللَّهُ بِهَا عَلَيْهِ فِي الدُّنْيَا،وَ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا عِنْدَ نُزُولِ الْمَطَرِ غَفَرَ اللَّهُ ذُنُوبَهُ وَقْتَ فَرَاغِهِ».

99-/11859 And from (Khawāṣṣ al-Qur’ān), it is narrated from the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family) that he said: “Whoever recites this sūrah, Allah will not hold him accountable for the blessings He bestowed upon him in this world; and whoever recites it at the time of rainfall, Allah will forgive his sins at the moment he finishes reciting it.”

99-/11860 _4- وَ قَالَ الصَّادِقُ(عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ): «مَنْ قَرَأَهَا وَقْتَ نُزُولِ الْمَطَرِ،غَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ،وَ مَنْ قَرَأَهَا وَقْتَ صَلاَةِ الْعَصْرِ كَانَ فِي أَمَانِ اللَّهِ إِلَى غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ مِنَ الْيَوْمِ الثَّانِي بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ تَعَالَى».

99-/11860 And al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever recites it at the time of rainfall, Allah will forgive him; and whoever recites it at the time of the ʿAṣr prayer will be in the protection of Allah until sunset of the following day, by the permission of Allah, the Exalted.”

99-/11861 _5- (بُسْتَانِ الْوَاعِظِينَ):عَنْ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ جَحْشٍ،عَنِ النَّبِيِّ(صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ)،أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «إِذَا قَرَأَ الْقَارِئُ أَلْهٰاكُمُ التَّكٰاثُرُ يُدْعَى فِي مَلَكُوتِ السَّمَاوَاتِ:مُؤَدِّيَ الشُّكْرِ لِلَّهِ».

99-/11861 (Bustān al-Wāʿiẓīn), from Zaynab bint Jaḥsh, from the Prophet (blessings of Allah be upon him and his family), that he said: “When the reciter recites ‘Abundance diverts you’ [Qur’an 102:1], it is proclaimed in the dominions of the heavens: ‘One who gives thanks to Allah is reciting.’”
