Quran 10:20 (M. H. Shakir): And they say: Why is not a sign sent to him from his Lord? Say: The unseen is only for Allah; therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait.

**99-/4862 _1- Ibn Bābawayh said: Ali b. Ahmad al-Daqqāq (may Allah be pleased with him) told us, he said: Muhammad b. Abī ‘Abdillāh al-Kūfī told us, he said: Mūsā b. ‘Imrān al-Nakha‘ī, from his uncle al-Husayn b. Yazīd, from ‘Alī b. Abī Ḥamzah, from Yaḥyā b. Abī al-Qāsim, said: I asked al-Ṣādiq (peace be upon him) about the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: “Alif Lam Mim. This Book, there is no doubt in it, is a guide to those who guard (against evil), those who believe in the unseen” (Quran 2:1-3, M. H. Shakir). He said: “The Godwary are the Shī‘a of ‘Alī (peace be upon him), and the Unseen is the Standing Proof (al-Ḥujjah al-Qā’im). The evidence for that is Allah’s saying: ‘And they say: Why is not a sign sent to him from his Lord? Say: The unseen is only for Allah; therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait’ (Quran 10:20, M. H. Shakir).”

**99-/4863 _2- And from him, with his chain, from Muhammad b. Mas‘ūd, he said: Abū Ṣāliḥ Khalaf b. Ḥammād al-Kashshī told me, he said: Sahl b. Ziyād told us, he said: Muhammad b. al-Ḥusayn told me, from Aḥmad b. Muhammad b. Abī Naṣr, he said: al-Riḍā (peace be upon him) said: “How excellent are patience and awaiting relief! Have you not heard the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: ‘And watch; surely I am watching with you’ (Quran 11:93, M. H. Shakir), and ‘therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait’ (Quran 10:20, M. H. Shakir)? So you must adhere to patience, for relief only comes at the point of despair. Indeed, those before you were more patient than you.”

**99-/4864 _3- And from him, with his chain, from Muhammad b. al-Fuḍayl, from Abū al-Ḥasan al-Riḍā (peace be upon him): He said: I asked him about the relief (al-faraj). He said: “Allah, Mighty and Majestic, says: ‘Therefore wait—surely I too, with you, am of those who wait’ (Quran 10:20, M. H. Shakir).”
