Surely nothing is hidden from Allah in the earth or in the heaven. (Al ‘Imran 3:5, M. H. Shakir)

99-1 (al-Ihtijaj) by al-Tabrisi—in the argument of Imam al-Sadiq (peace be upon him) against the atheists—[a man] said: “Are not deeds weighed?” He (peace be upon him) said: “No. Deeds are not bodies; rather, they are the description of what they have done. One only needs to weigh a thing if he is ignorant of the number of things and does not know their heaviness or lightness—and surely nothing is hidden from Allah.”

How then will it be when We shall gather them together on a day about which there is no doubt, and every soul shall be paid in full what it has earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly. (Al ‘Imran 3:25, M. H. Shakir)

99-2 (Makarim al-Akhlaq): From ‘Abd Allah ibn Mas‘ud—in a hadith—that the Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family) said to him: “O Ibn Mas‘ud, when you recite the Book of Allah, the Exalted, and you come to a verse that contains a command and a prohibition, repeat it, reflecting and considering it, and do not be heedless of that. For His prohibition points to abandoning sins, and His command points to doing righteousness and goodness. For surely Allah, the Exalted, says: ‘How then will it be when We shall gather them together on a day about which there is no doubt, and every soul shall be paid in full what it has earned, and they shall not be dealt with unjustly.’”

Say: Obey Allah and the Messenger; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers. (Al ‘Imran 3:32, M. H. Shakir)

99-1 (Tuḥaf al-‘Uqul): From a sermon of the Commander of the Faithful (peace be upon him) when some people objected to his equal distribution among the people in the fay’: “To proceed—O people—indeed we praise our Lord, our God, and the Bestower of blessings upon us, outward and inward, without any might or power from us, but rather as a favor upon us and grace, in order to test us: will we be grateful or ungrateful? Whoever is grateful, He increases him; and whoever is ungrateful, He punishes him.

And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, alone, without partner—One, Self-Sufficient—and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger. He sent him as a mercy to the servants, the lands, the beasts, and the cattle—a blessing He bestowed, a favor and grace.

So the best of people—O people—in station with Allah, and the greatest of them in rank with Allah, is the most compliant with Allah’s command, the most active in obeying Allah, the most following of the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and his family), and the most reviving of the Book of Allah. Thus no one among Allah’s creation has any superiority with us except by obedience to Allah and obedience to His Messenger (may Allah bless him and his family), and by following His Book and the Sunnah of His Prophet (may Allah bless him and his family). Here is the Book of Allah in our midst, and the covenant of the Prophet of Allah and his conduct among us—none is ignorant of it except an ignorant, opposing, stubborn one—[this is] from Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Allah says: ‘O mankind! surely We have created you of a male and a female, and made you tribes and families that you may know each other; surely the most honorable of you with Allah is the one among you most careful (of his duty)’ [1]. So whoever is Godwary is the noble, honored, beloved one—and likewise are the people of His obedience and the obedience of the Messenger of Allah. Allah says in His Book: ‘Say: If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your faults, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful’ [2]. And He said: ‘Obey Allah and the Messenger; but if they turn back, then surely Allah does not love the unbelievers.’”
